We have a thread for girls names so why not one for boys?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My DS's name isn't on here (yet!) - YAY!!

I dislike most boys names beginning with a 'K' - sorry

minxofmancunia · 12/05/2010 18:51

Charlie
Will
Joe
Alfie
Brayden
Jayden
Joshua
Jamie
Cael
Callum
Cade
Harry/Freddie (dog names)
George

basically when children are called the shortened version as their "proper" name. My ds is Samuel, we call him Sam but his name is Samuel.

See Charles and Alfred are used by completely different people to Charlie & Alfie. As are Billy and William. Not the same names at all.

I know two sets of brothers named Charlie and Alfie.

downthecreek · 12/05/2010 18:31

Tom, James & David are in a completely different league to Charlie.

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2010 18:30

Oh I see.

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2010 18:27

What's "yobbish"?

downthecreek · 12/05/2010 18:23

Charlie and Alfie are worn by the same person.

downthecreek · 12/05/2010 18:22

No not michchevious. Yobbish bad boy.

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2010 18:15

Oh I love Charlie...but it does have slightly a mischevious sound to it doesn't it?

LOL at sleep...I was watching a movie the other day and a character yelled, "Romaine! It's time to go-we've got a playdate with Wingspan and Banjo!" Yup...that's America for ya!

downthecreek · 12/05/2010 18:04

Charlie is another one. It's a naughty name.

The first week I moved into our town I heard a woman shouting in the Co-oP "Troy" "Sapphire"

I had to duck down the next aisle so that she didn't see me PMSL.

fizzpops · 12/05/2010 17:43

Am I wrong to be watching this and the girls' names thread in anticipation of conceiving and consequently naming DC2? Somehow there is a more interesting variety of names coming up than your average baby names thread.

But I do think it would add another dimension if everyone was to add their own child/ren's name/s at the end so we get an idea what you DO like...

Alouiseg · 12/05/2010 17:21

I overheard "Milo" in the supermarket the other day!

I wasn't in Asda obviously.

ButIHardlyKnowYou · 12/05/2010 16:06

LetThereBeRock · 12/05/2010 16:05

I second anything ending with "ayden" unless it actually is the name "Aidan." And Landon, Jordan, etc. And most "son" names. (Addison, Grayson, Jayson, Madison especially, even though that is a girl's name. )

Another thing I was going to add about my favorite name Jack There's a line of men's products here called Every Man Jack...and that's how I think of it. A strong, solid, everyman kind of name. Those are the ones I like: Sam, Jack, Charlie, etc.

florence2511 · 12/05/2010 02:17

Here goes for Florence's list of boys names she hates:

Kaydon/Braydon/Jaydon/Schmaydon/Laydon
Dexter
Bailey
Morgan
Fletcher
Landon ( know an American kid called this)
Jackson
Grayson
In fact most, if not all, of the surnames that are used nowadays as first names - urgh

Dodgy Geezer names (as pointed out by someone else)
Kevin
Darren
Damon
Paul
Mark
Gavin
Gary
Barry

Middle aged men's names:
Keith
Norman
Nigel (though I can't help thinking of Nigel Havers everytime I hear the name Nigel - swoon)
Trevor
Terry
Kenneth

florence2511 · 12/05/2010 02:12

I am so happy as the name we have chosen, should we have a darling son next, hasn't come up once. Yet.
