LilRed I'm so sorry but I dislike that name very much, no disrespect to your lovely dad.
I hate it as its my brothers name and (as you may recall) he is a complete arsehole.

mathanxiety · 11/05/2010 15:22

I knew a Neville who was the opposite of pretty much all the impressions on this thread, but I still think it's one of those names that will die out. It's too 1930s.

swanandduck · 11/05/2010 12:45

Horrible name. Would put it in the same category as Malcolm. A librarian who still lives with his Mum and has a crush on the next door neighbour.

DH works for a man called Neville and he is a complete and utter twat. A really unplesant man.

However I would concede that Neville Longbottom is lovely, and Nev is a great nickname.

LilRedWG · 11/05/2010 10:35

Thank you Psammead - he was indeed a lovely man.

flopsy1974 · 11/05/2010 09:44

Horrible. Sorry.
Apparently Gary and Phil Nevilles Dad is called Neville Neville. How bad is that? Some kind of cruel joke by the parents I think?

Psammead · 11/05/2010 09:27

LilRedWG your description of your father has been added to my mental catalouging of Nevilles. He sounds like a lovely man

Rockbird · 11/05/2010 07:00

Glad I'm not the only one to think Auf Wiedersehen Pet

LilRedWG · 10/05/2010 19:41

My Dad's name was Neville and to be honest I would never use it for a child of mine, but to me it sums up my Dad. He was a Gentleman in the true sense of the word, kind, traditional, private and wonderful.

usualsuspect · 10/05/2010 19:40

its a bit wet

KittyTwoShoes · 10/05/2010 19:38

Oh, I say. Neville Longbottom!

Call the child Neville and please may he grow up to look like him? Ta.

Psammead · 10/05/2010 18:35

Gosh, he kind of is...

Neville was the wet one in 'Aufwiedersehen, Pet'.

CaptainUnderpants · 10/05/2010 17:45

Neville Longbottom is quite a dish now

lurverly ...

mathanxiety · 10/05/2010 17:28

Never

annh · 10/05/2010 16:57

Another thing about Neville - he would not call people twat or moron!

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 16:56

Thats was not a fascinator Hully, that was a hat (you twat).

Fantastic thing to wear to a wedding I thought. I bet you made the bride spit.

yama · 10/05/2010 16:55

Nev is a cool nickname though.

Hullygully · 10/05/2010 16:47

GetOrf - you're just jealous of my fascinator.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 16:45

Piss off you moron (to Hully)

LuluF · 10/05/2010 16:43

GetOrfMoiLand _ I already knew what his middle name was so I was prepared, but there were supressed sniggers to be heard. I have a terribly boring sensible, 1973 middle name.

Hullygully · 10/05/2010 16:39

I think it's gorgeous. Bit classic, bit classy and kind of understated, yet not afraid to stand out from the crowd and be counted. Minor public school, yen for cardigans, polyanthus fanatic when older.

KittyTwoShoes · 10/05/2010 16:37

Aww, I actually quite like Neville! I was just thinking the other day, while waiting for a train, that Neville was quite a good name.

I don't know if I'd be brave enough to use it, though. Still, you go for it if you feel brave enough!

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 16:36

Basically I am describing about 80% of the men I have worked with in the last 12 years.

Engineering. Where all the dweebs go to die.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 16:35

Neville wears the same tie all the time. It is dark blue and is slightly greasy looking (see above post re luncheon meat).

Neville likes playing skittles of a Wednesday evening. None of the barmaids at the Royal Oak like serving him because he stares at cleavages and licks his lips in a reptilian way.
