Im expecting dc 1 and we don't know the gender. We have a shortlist for a boy; Sonnie, Freddie, Cassius.

We can't agree on a girls name though, I like flowery names like Daisy, Flora etc but dh came across the name Minnie and I think I like it apart from the minnie mouse thing.

Opinions please

That was in reference to it being used for girl bits.

Mrssmurf, it's not a name universally used by adults in the way of 'fanny'. But it is a very popular nn used by mums of preschool DDs and is becoming more popular all the time.
I'd never heard it before I had kids but hear it all the time now so the fact you haven't heard it doesn't mean that local mums of little girls aren't using it IYUWIM.

I didn't realise about minnie being a nn for genitalia maybe it's not used so much around here.

Liliputlady i have worried about that aspect of it.

It's just names like Lily,Poppy,Daisy are so popular I fancy something a bit different.

As for Sonnie/Sonny it's not a definite, we are leaning more towards Cassius with nn Cass. I also think lots of names used recently are not what we would associate with a grown up person.

Anyway thanks for the opinions and keep them coming.

I have to agree about Sonny and Minnie - they are fine as nn, but too childish/cute for adults. IMVHO

Please don't call you son Sonnie - he will be a grown up one day and that is no name for an adult man.

Minnie is a common nick name for female genitalia.

Can I just add, if you have a boy, Sonny looks much better with a Y.

It's very 'wet' IMO. I don't like it, sorry. But then I'm not keen on Daisy, Poppy etc either. However, they are far, far better than Minnie I must say.

You do know it's a very popular nn for little girls genitalia?

A pretty name, but unfortunate if she is ever anything other than mini as she grows up. (SO glad my Mum and Dad didn't call me that)
