I like it (I have an Edmund).

Very cool & Dickensian, actually. & whilst Edward is nice, there's absolutely loads of them, whereas he'd probably be the only Edwin in his class!

In theory it's quite like Edward and in fact a bit easier to say. I think it could be due a revival.

If you go ahead with it now, I think you could expect everybody to make, oooooh bit pompous/effeminate faces at the name, but then in about 5 years the 'ear' will have adjusted and it'll sound a bit more mainstream.

No - it's lovely, I had a bit of a crush on an Edwin in school.

I know of an Edwin in his twenties, lovely lad. (I have to say lad because I'm so old) He's a bit of a cheeky chappy by all accounts; lots of mates and a bit of a charmer with the ladies I hear. I guess Edwin could be shortened to 'Ed' as well, so is flexible that way if your boy decides to shorten it later in life.

If people haven't generally heard the name for a few years then it's prob due for a revival?!!! How many of us named our kids something we thought was quite unusual to then discover we'd tapped into the zeitgeist and now there are dozens of them ...everywhere!!!

I don't see why he would be bullied. Kids have no cultural reference for an Edwin.

I've not heard an Edwin since my Uncle and he is 55. Oh, and there was the 80something year old man who lived a few doors on.

Depends where you live.
Personally I think it is a nice name, but round these here parts would be unusual. Not off the wall though.
