Someone I know called their son Elgin.....

christabell · 03/05/2010 14:24

Oops just posted two messages by accident!

christabell · 03/05/2010 14:23

What about Neil? Is Scottish and do not hear it much these days though was really popular for my generation, born in the 70's. I still think it is a cute name for a baby but also works on an older child/adult.

christabell · 03/05/2010 14:21

Also just thought of Neil (or Niall). Really popular amongst my generation but don't hear it much today and I think it is still quite cute on a baby/child as well as working for an adult (my brother's name though so maybe I am biased and everyone else thinks it is truly awful along the lines of Keith and other 70's names!)

Piffpaffpoff · 03/05/2010 14:04

I'd say it Strooan. But that's just me, someone else might come along with an alternative that I don't know about!

Rossco · 03/05/2010 14:03

Strew-an.

Angus
Keith,
Ross

Xavielli · 03/05/2010 13:54

How does one pronounce Struan?

Piffpaffpoff · 03/05/2010 13:51

Ah, we too have an S surname so had to rule out Angus, Fergus etc. It's such a pest! What about...

Archie
Craig
Campbell
Gordon
Glen
Struan
Brodie

That's all I can think of at the mo.

ILoveTwilight · 03/05/2010 13:43

Finlay is lovely.
Lachlan is nice too but it's ds's friend.
Thanks copperjar but I think we might give Kermit a miss this time. I work in a school so I know how awful kids can be.
SoMuchToBits - friends children already have all your suggestions.
I know too many children!

i think finlay is a sweet name

SoMuchToBits · 03/05/2010 13:21

Fraser
Gregor
Euan

copperjar · 03/05/2010 13:19

Have you thought about Kermit?

ILoveTwilight · 03/05/2010 13:18

Thanks ladies. Cameron's are 10 a penny in Scotland. Dh likes Duncan, I like Ruaridh but think they would have to spend their whole life spelling it out for everyone. We are trying to avoid first names that end in S as our surname starts with it, just incase they end up with a lisp!

I like Murray.

How about:

Campbell
Douglas
Blair
Lachlan

Magaly · 03/05/2010 11:47

Fergus

christabell · 03/05/2010 11:42

I like Murray and Miles of your choices.

How about:
Ruaridh (love this!)
Rory
Angus
Duncan (like this one too)

I am Scottish and also liked the idea of Scottish names but we found it hard to find many we really liked - in event we had a girl anyway! Rowan is a really pretty name for a girl

grumpypants · 03/05/2010 10:54

Fergus? Dougal? Cameron? (Love these)

ILoveTwilight · 03/05/2010 10:53

Thanks for replying. Can't have David or Michael first as they are family names. This one is proving difficult, we found the other two much easier to agree on.

How about

Miles David (with an i in Miles)
David Miles
Jonah David

Not keen on Kelvin, Murray or Clark.
