Names for fourth son

Will be finding out the sex of DC4 in a couple of weeks. If it's a boy, I'm a bit stumped as I've used up the names I really love on the other three, so I'd like a name for number 4 early on. For really stupid reasons that make DH go . Don't need girls names as I have them coming out of my ears but if it helps for style, my current fave is Genevieve.

Anyhoo, the other three lovely boys have vaguely scottish first names (not Fettes college standard like Fergus or anything) and I want something that will go.

I'm thinking middle names of Dominic Andrew so what do you think of the following as first names?

Gregor (shortened to Gray)
Calumn
Elliott
Nathan
Daniel

I think you should go with Dominic Andrew as first names they are lovely

In fact I like all your names

My favs are in order

Elliot
Daniel
Nathan
Callum
Gregor

Birth is in T-3 days and counting I think I am going to keep his name underwraps it's not any of the above.

thumbwitch · 02/05/2010 18:23

Do you like Rory? Or is that attached to someone too?

Menzies is out, I guess

Ian? Or Ewan? Actually I think I like Ewan better...

ILoveGregoryHouse · 02/05/2010 18:12

Thanks everyone!

So many nice names but having grown up in Scotland, a lot of them are attached to people (Murray, Alister, Fraser) and therefore no-nos.

Duncan, Neil, Lachlan, Hamish, Finlay, Alexander,(and so Hector) all out cos of family/close friends. Garn!

Hey, maybe I'll let DH choose. It'll be the first time .

Daniel or Dominic. have you considered Murray?

Would definitely stay clear of Nathan. Far too many around here but Nathaniel (Nat) is fine.

Mackenzie (Mack)or is that too scottish? Gregory is ok but with Dominic as a second name and possibly a third name it would become all rather a mouthful. I have long names and at school longed to have monosyllabic ones

janeite · 02/05/2010 15:24

Hector is brill.

thumbwitch · 02/05/2010 15:23

Don't really like Elliott as a first name
Nathan is getting a bit over-used, isn't it?
Daniel I love but with Dominic as a second name might be a bit over-D'd
Calum - meh
Gregor - yes I like it, but automatically think of Gregor Fisher.

Lachlan is massively popular in Australia - you can't throw a brick anywhere without hitting one - not that that would probably matter to you in the UK but still.

I quite like Hector too - but might be a bit odd if you have an Alexander in the family already (and if you don't then that's a great name )

Alastair or any of the various spellings is quite nice

Lovethesea · 02/05/2010 15:17

Murdo.

janeite · 02/05/2010 15:08

Love, love, love Gregor - but dislike Gray intensely, sorry.

Daniel is next best.

Elliot is a name that I really don't like (even though there is one in the family) - can't put my finger on why but I just can't 'feel' it at all.

morethemerrier · 02/05/2010 15:05

Love Gregor, shortened to Grey, that would be my fave!

Good strong name!

Elliot
Daniel
Nathan
Calum

All nice!

dannas · 02/05/2010 14:25

I love Gregor!

How about Hamish, Finlay, Hector, Struan, Alasdair?

drloves8 · 02/05/2010 14:05

Gregor is the nicest name .its manly , but suits tiny babies too.

Angus -(my uncles name
Fraser
cameron
laughlan.
Connel (ok its irish , but its nice)
Alister ?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 02/05/2010 13:44

Can't have Cameron as got one in the family already (not a DS though), Lachlan I really like but sounds similar to DS3.

I love Dominic but as a first name it doesn't flow with the other three but I really want the name somewhere as it's fab and I like the meaning.

I also like Dougray but am concerned it's a bit made-up (Dougray Scott is lovely...)

bedtime, Fergus is nice but just a wee bit too scottish/morningside/kelvinside iyswim. Ah, I'm just a fussy madam.

AbFab, hellooooo. Other DSs have two middle names (this is why I've run out, am a numpty).

Thanks all, this has helped, I'll keep my list and then see how I feel on the day (20th May).

Good luck with imminent birth sweetkitty, or have I missed it?

Callum and Nathan very popular up here just now

Daniel was on our shortlist love it
Elliot was my first choice so love it as well
Gregor not so keen on but that's probably because I know a Gregor and his Mum shouts Greg-ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrr at him (think posh Kelvinside accent) and it's a bit
Dougray shortened to Gray also nice
Dominic - like this too

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/05/2010 12:44

Gregor (shortened to Gray) like this but love Gregory or Dougray more
Calumn - not keen, sorry
Elliott - this is on my shortlist too!
Nathan - like this
Daniel - not too bothered either way.

I like Dominic too, would you not use this as a first name?

mamaduckbone · 02/05/2010 12:40

what about Cameron? Or do you already have one of those?
I like Gregor and Elliot best from your list.

APassionateWoman · 02/05/2010 12:37

Daniel or Nathan are the nicest. Gray is awful.

BridesheadRegardless · 02/05/2010 12:02

Gregor is lovely as is the Gregory version.

All the others are very nice too.

Dominic is also gorgeous.

In short, you have good taste.

jellybeans · 02/05/2010 11:51

Nathan is the best.

persephoneplum · 02/05/2010 11:41

Daniel is lovely and I do like Elliott. I don't care at all for the other two names.

I adore Dominic though and that would be my first choice for his first name by a long shot

yama · 02/05/2010 11:33

What about Dougray (shortened to Gray)? I love Gray.

Of the others, I like Calum, Nathan and Daniel but not Eliott.

Go with Gray.

AbFabT · 02/05/2010 11:04

Hi, ILGH.

Has to be Gregor, does it not!!! And I love Gray as a nn. Though I really like Dominic - is there a reason you only want it for a mn?

P.S. Do your other three boys also have two middle names? I would like two middle names for our children, but DH is resisting!

Cthulhu · 02/05/2010 10:21

I love Daniel and like Nathan and Elliott as well. Dominic is nice too- would you consider it as the 1st name?

waitingforbedtime · 02/05/2010 10:17

Not keen on any of them tbh. What about Lachlan?

Incidentally I love Fergus

recireci · 02/05/2010 10:11

Gregor - prefer Gregory
Calumn - not keen
Elliott - like
Nathan - it's OK
Daniel - like

maddylou · 02/05/2010 08:39
