I was just wondering (because I'm bored and there's nowt on telly) if anyone here had given their LOs literary-inspired names? My LO-on-the-way is going to have the name of my favourite book-character as a middle name if it's a boy... I was watching Jonathon Ross last night and found out Russell Crowe's DS2 is called Tennyson... can anyone beat that?

2010 - our DC3 is a Dylan bus she's a girl

said - I take it your DP didn't get his way then?!!?

My partner wanted Bo, Jesse or Luke - 'Dukes of Hazzard' inpsired!

meadowlarks · 02/05/2010 15:47

Hypothetical DS will be called Atticus. I wanted Larkin but that was vetoed, though I'm toying with Beckett...and I actually quite like Nickleby now it's been mentioned I find literary girl's names all a bit fussy for my taste.

2010dylansmum · 02/05/2010 15:44

Our LO is called Dylan, not really for any reason but happy-stance that it is shared by two of 20C greatest poets - Thomas and Bob

comixminx · 02/05/2010 15:22

Adair - if we have a girl we're (likely to be) calling her Aphra too, for the same reason!

Love Scout, would never be 'allowed' by my DH!! I always loved Cassandra (From 'I capture the castle', my favourite book when younger & possibly still my favourite book) wasn't allowed that. Also suggested Heloise, but was denied that for DD too (after the dog in 'I capture the castle', although the dog & cat are Heloise & Abelard).

I am named after a character in the book my mum was reading when I was born! My Year 8 History teacher told me that being named after her was not something to boast about as she was a slut!!

HobbitMama · 02/05/2010 14:47

Thwy're not very original but we have a Lucy (Narnia), a William ( the bard/Blake/Wordsworth/Spike!) and now a cross literary/musical Oscar Dylan Angel - obviously Wilde/Thomas/Bob but the last is my DH's great-great-great-grandfather's name! No Buffy reference there!

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 02/05/2010 14:46

My DD's name comes from Sweet Valley High

I also want Andrina from Drina Ballerina if DC2 is a girl but DH says no more children named after my favourite children's books

I read in the paper this week that Sigourney Weaver changed her name from Susan.

I call dd Little My, after my favourite character from the Moomins

cherrylips · 02/05/2010 12:41

I've got a Laura :- Laura Ingalls.
And a Louisa :- Louisa May Alcott.

Adair · 02/05/2010 12:31

Dd is a famous author Ms Behn see here.

Ds is sort of named after the main character in Guys and Dolls. But is also cos I am a big hippy.

Love Linus!

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/05/2010 12:11

I love Atticus and Bronte! DP would never let me, though. If this LO is a boy I am having Holden for a middle name - I've had it saved up since 1994 and I LOVE it so criticise it at your peril - from The Catcher in the Rye. I wanted it for a first name but naturally DP said no... I know a mum who has a DD called Esme after To Esme, With Love and Squalor, also by JD Salinger.

Ha!

Just tested the waters with DH with regards to naming any future son we have as Atticus...he's still laughing. Philestine.

belgo · 02/05/2010 11:06

That reminds me, Wolf is a name that features in many stories
