Hi there

Have one son called Matthew and due again in August. Not sure if a boy or a girl but thinking Theo if a boy...is this name too similar to Matthew...? Interested in your opinions, I love the name but my husband not too keen!

Thanks

I don't really see the similarity. Lovely names. And congratulations .

Sounds fine and both great names.

fabhead · 27/04/2010 12:50

I Dont see how they are similar in any way

I think its just the 'Th' sound but love both names so think will stick to my guns and keep working on hubbie!!

not similar at all

Lovethesea · 27/04/2010 14:14

Does your Matthew get called Matt? Or is that likely as he gets older?

Matt and Theo sound quite seperate to me. Even Matthew and Theo aren't that close even with the 'th'.

Maybe depends on accents?

I would use it, i know what you mean about the th sound but think nobody else would think of it unless you pointed it out.

mathanxiety · 27/04/2010 14:48

The -thew sound at the end of Matthew, and Theo sound too alike, imo. If Matthew was Matthias then it would be ok.

recireci · 27/04/2010 16:44

Yes that's what I was thinking mathanxiety, it's the -thew and Theo.

recireci · 27/04/2010 16:46

.... and I like your alternative suggestion of Matthias.
