My sis has suggested this name and i like it but wasn't sure if it was a real persons name IYSWIM until this weekend when a FOF's baby pics on FB came up and she has an Aurora and made it seem 'real'....(she was adorable too which helps!!)

What do you lot think?

I agree it's a bit Disney but Dawn is really growing on me. Then again, I quite like Ariadne (helped Theseus escape) and Arrietty (Borrower)...

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 26/04/2010 20:45

I love it but I think cakeandroses is probably referring to me - my DH vetoed it in case of a speech impediment

Aurelia also lovely, as is Aurore, but while Aurora can't help but sound pretty I know that before long I would be saying 'Oror' in a very ugly estuary english accent than a poncy French one.

So many names sound better with a French accent - s'not fair!

Gladioli, I agree, maybe it's because of my Irish accent and I lean heavier on Rs than an English person, but Aurora doesn't roll off my tongue. Not even close. Feel like my mouth is changing gears going up a steep hill spitting that name out. Sorry!

Magaly · 26/04/2010 20:41

Sorry. Too "disneyvita"

I love Marianne though and Arianne is quite nice.

debaronz · 26/04/2010 20:28

Arianna or Aurelia would be nice alternatives.

lagrandissima · 26/04/2010 20:19

How about the French version, Aurore? A bit less Disney, tres chic even.

BellaBalloon · 26/04/2010 19:12

so pretty but agree with comment about J Ross.
Aurelie?
Auriel?

Exogenesis · 26/04/2010 19:08

Its myy DD's middle name, (as ex refused to let me use at her first name) And we use it as a first name now as DD prefers it. We Use Rora as a nickname.

Its a lovely name but.... i would say that

APassionateWoman · 26/04/2010 18:39

boodleboot · 26/04/2010 17:37

i kind of get you Gladiolibuckets......its not an easy word is it but I could imagine calling it out or certainly Rorie i could imagine calling out on a more regular basis!!

is it the one tho....hmmm

(i am starting to believe 'the one' doesn't actually exist in RL.....)

Disney.

Aurelia is a lot nicer, imo.

GladioliBuckets · 26/04/2010 13:21

I find it quite an unpleasant sensation to say it out loud actually but that's my problem. Can you imagine calling it out loud though?

diddl · 26/04/2010 11:45

Like it!

Shaz10 · 26/04/2010 11:44

Where Wayne and Garth live. But I still like it.

debaronz · 26/04/2010 11:43

I think it's a lovely name.

StrictlyKatty · 26/04/2010 11:37

I thinks it's beautiful

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/04/2010 11:32

Love it.

My niece-in-law was going to give her baby that as a middle name to Daisy but chose not to from too many people's "ooh-er" reactions. She instead gone for Ava, which I also think is lovely.

CakeandRoses · 26/04/2010 11:20

I love it but was put off after seeing a few Mnetter's say their DHs had vetoed the name by saying 'What if she has a Johnathan Woss style speech impediment?'

Probably a bit silly to worry about that but it put me off.

ihaveaquestion2010 · 26/04/2010 11:15

I really like it.

skihorse · 26/04/2010 11:14

Absolutely awesome pair of skis.
