Do you regret your name choice?

I love both DCs names but I sometimes wish I had called DD Hermione, I will always be a little sad that I didn't get to use it. I was luckier with DS as DH couldn't think of a name he liked so I got my way with that one

Anyone else?

I regret dd's first name a bit. It's a name that I've liked from childhood but I wish that I'd gone for something a bit less plain or more unusual. It was at around 90 on the top 100 popular girl's names for the year she was born and is now out of top 100 altogether but my perception is of it being really popular as it was when I was a child.

infact, im not even sure it is chavvy, i cant tell because its my sons name, but i think it might be?

I wish i'd used ds2 middle name instead of his first name, i hate his first name now, its chavvy...too late to change though i think

Somebody must have said something to him notso. A 3 year old child would just accept their name without question! even if that name was Caesar. Somebody must have made him feel his name wasn't appropriate....??

Notso - does he a middle name that he likes?

I would be sad too if DS grows up not to like his name. I so hope he doesn't prefer the original. I cannot believe that I let DH have his way on this. A compromise would have fair enough, but I think it is unfair for one partner to be so insistant on a name the other doesn't like at all

I love my Dc's names although they have both become really popular, they are both unique in their schools.
However DS really dislikes his name, he went through a big phase at 3 where he wanted us to call him Jacob and now he's 5 he still says he wishes he had a different name.
This make me sad and DH gets annoyed. I have considered trying to change DS's name to the long version, as we gave him a diminutive name but he doesn't like that either.

My x bullied me into dc1's name. I suggested about 40 or 50 names when i was pg and he only ever had 4 names which were quite conservative imo. He just wouldn't budge and she has one of those four names. I do like the name, but it is a reflection of his taste more than mine. It does make me a little sad that I didn't 'get my way' which sounds very immature ! but I envy people whose partners 'let them choose' or loved their choice. That chance has gone now forever. No biggie really in the grander scheme of things I know.

DS has 3 first names. I love the first and third, but really really dislike the second. It was his first name for a while, and we changed it. I wish we had removed it completely in a way, but changing his name at all seemed like a huge thing to do at the time as he was a few months old (so he was registered in the original name). All our video recordings of the early days have the original name in them.

I lurk on MN quite a bit now as have become slightly obsessed with baby names, and want to be prepared for next time. DH has terrible taste in my opinion. I post a lot in any 'name regret' threads, I guess because it felt like a big thing to do at the time. To be honest I still resent that DH was so adamant about the original name when I didn't like it. He was very supportive in changing it though. Maybe if we had removed the name completely I wouldn't think about it so often

Only got 1 DD and I regret her middle name, Maria, and wish I chose Julia instead!
