What do you think of when you hear the name Beau? Thanks

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Surprise · 24/04/2010 22:43

Yes.

lisaleelu · 24/04/2010 22:35

Asking to be bullied!

mercibien · 24/04/2010 22:33

quite sweet for a bouncy 18 month old
pretty appalling for a bald, plump 48 year old.
If you do like it give him an optional middle name

CinderellaRach · 24/04/2010 21:19

Well can't say I like Kanyealthough don't see the connection with commenting on thread about the name Beau?!
Completely understand people thinking 'get over yourself love' that's why I asked..wanted to know what peoples true opinions are.
Thanks again for honest opinions

the only Beau I know is my cousins little boy and he's gorgeous

you should know by now that most MN's only like 'thomas tank engine' tradional names!

ItalyLovingMummy · 24/04/2010 20:59

DH and I were in the supermarket the other day and a footballers wives type woman was saying 'Kanye, Kanye, no you can't have no more of them' to her little boy - lovely....

wigglybeezer · 24/04/2010 20:56

I used to look after a little boy called Beau (short for Beauregarde), his sister was Called Esmeralda. Their mother was a Southern Belle transplanted to Edinburgh, the names suited their surname and unusual family but wouldn't work for a more ordinary family IMO.

They'll be grown-up now, I wonder what they are up to?

thisxgirl · 24/04/2010 20:28

Hmm, not sure what happened to my first sentence. I meant to say:

I had my first crush on an angelic and attractive-looking thirteen year old called Beau. He went to same prep school as me and was very well-off and popular. The name suited him down to the ground and worked within the circles he and his family moved in. Not sure if it would be as impressive on a less good-looking boy in a more, um, down-to-earth upbringing.

I should probably add that I was eleven and that may have coloured my impression him (and his name)!

yeah

CurlyCasper · 24/04/2010 20:20

This might have been said but Beau should not be a girl's name because it is French for handsome and very much masculine. Belle is the equivalent for a boy.

If you think Dukes of Hazzard - hillbilly

In the UK - yes, pretentious/silly. I know of a one year old boy called Beau. Parents are pretentious. I fear the child will suffer...

But at the end of the day it's your child and your choice

Kaloki · 24/04/2010 20:16

My friends kid is called Beau. So now I think of a gorgeous little boy

scottishmummy · 24/04/2010 19:47

traceybath · 24/04/2010 19:46

I think its a lovely name.

But Expat you have made me laugh

MadameCastafiore · 24/04/2010 19:44

Oooohhhh you have to make sure yourt son is going to be absolutely bloody gorgeous to be called Beau - because can you imagine how much he is going to get teased an bullied if he is a fat little piggy faced horror!

scottishmummy · 24/04/2010 19:41

beau makes me think he's country.spittin on porch suckin teeth

usualsuspect · 24/04/2010 19:07

This thread has nothing on the Daisy-Mae thread....

largeginandtonic · 24/04/2010 19:02

Crikey it's not often i see such vitriol for a name.

Magaly · 24/04/2010 18:18

That's funny Cory. So Bo is like Brian, Derek, Roger... is that the vibe it has in Sweden.

That would make sense, because Ulrika called her youngest child Malcolm. Well he won't have to be Malcolm A will he!

shockers · 24/04/2010 18:16

I know a Beau... lovely lad. He's 22 now and liked by all who know him.

cece · 24/04/2010 17:41

I used to know a Beau. He was one of the most ugly children I have ever know - in many ways. I do not say this lightly.

But that aside it is not a name I would lumber my son with. But hey if you like it, go for it...

Spacehoppa · 24/04/2010 17:35

Hello expatinScotland-What about Beau Belles?

shelleee · 24/04/2010 17:32

sorry but i really like it and were considering it for a boy or girl xxx

LadyThompson · 24/04/2010 17:32

I think the point is that the name has certain overtones in say, Charleston, South Carolina, QUITE distinct from the ones it would probably have in, say, Basingstoke.

I don't think the OP lives in the US.

Furthermore, does it really matter what a name actually means? Is Ursula only a name for bears? Last time I checked, all the Lindas I know aren't that beautiful. So what?

Peabody · 24/04/2010 17:27

OP, I think you said that your surname begins with an O.

You will therefore have to discount every single name beginning with B. You cannot have a child whose initials are BO.
