3 syllable girl's name needed please!

hi, I've name changed because DS's name is quite unusual and I don't want people to work out who I am!

DS is Theodore and we've just found out we're expecting a DD

so, oh wise ladies of MN, what would you suggest for her please? My preference would be for a 3 syllable name that has the option to shorten for a nn

thanks all

Both my DD'S are not on any of these lists either I must have the knack of choosing unusual (but beautiful)names

piratecat · 24/04/2010 22:46

my dd's is a three sylable, and STILL not on this list.

i am quite pleased, cos it's so hard to find one isn't it.

Marissa
Miranda
Leona
Jennifer ?

oopsandbabycoconut · 24/04/2010 22:41

OP - Steal my Eliana on pain of death it has taken me ages to irritate MIL with it

Dizzy - you will have a DS this time so people can say 'oooh, so you finally got your boy then'

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/04/2010 22:33

Please tell me that isn't the name of an evil witch padraig?! It's a likely middle name for us if dc3 is a girl!

padraig · 24/04/2010 22:25

Millicent?

That just reminds me of the evil witch in Sleeping Beauty

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/04/2010 22:20

dizzy - saskia or penelope from your list. But something tells me that you'll end up with none of those after a huge debate!

sweetkitty - how long have you got left to go now? Am dying to know what you're going for.

OP - you are going slightly insane! You said in your long list that you like Arabella (ok, you spelled it wrong, but same diff), and then got excited about it being a new name to add to the list when someone suggested it later on!

I think Arabella or Araminta are good choices.
Or given some of the others that you like, you might also like Aurelia, which I don't think has been suggested yet.

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 21:23

forgot, also LOVING at the moment

Delphine
Seraphine

OrangePetal · 24/04/2010 21:21

lou031205 - please don't confuse her with number of syllables or the fact that Eliana ends in Anna which she doesn't like we'll be here till her DD is 12 at that rate

lou031205 · 24/04/2010 21:11

Millicent (Millie)

You know Eliana is 4 syllables, don't you?

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 21:07

Dahlia
Tabitha
Lillian
Lydia

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 20:59

Meredith - nn Merry
Isabella - nn Isa
Corinna - Nina or Cora

I'll need to consider Aralina to me it just sounds like you missed the C off Carolina

kitty is it the one we spoke about?!?!

OrangePetal · 24/04/2010 20:56

sweetkitty... intrigued how you 'know' lots of people i know and wondering whether i'm meant to know who you are too!
Not a short surname, just boring and very common! (its in the top 20 of surnames in England/Wales) So we both felt least we could do was provide unusual firstnames. the 3 syllable thing is because it tends to lead to more nicknames. Hmm, Eliana is pretty. This is great, I've discovered more about the type of names i like!
I suspect you'll get lynched for trying to keep your DS's name secret from this mob though!

dizz so do you not like Aralina?
as for your new suggestions, i will indeed consider them Hmm, not sure about them tbh...possibly Prudence...actually no, sorry, changed my mind already!

oh and Romilly nn Romy or Milly

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 20:49

Verity
Matilda is ok
Aurora nn Rory

hi kitty and yes, Petal now has a one syllable surname beginning with H

our current list for potential DD4 is

Imogen
Saskia
Arianna
Penelope
Beatrice

sweetkitty · 24/04/2010 20:46

hi twilightsurfer, ALBS and CSWS

and of course the lovely dizzy whose DD1s name I was going to pinch until DD4 revealed a little extra bit

Yes I think we have chosen DSs name, nothing that was on our original list as well might jsut keep it a secret

Orangepetal - I like Ariana as well couldn't have it for one of mine as it's too similar to DD1's name

Oh I also like Eliana which I prefer to Emiliana sorry

Do you have a short surname? That's why we opted for 3 syllable names.

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 20:46

now, would you not consider:

Cecilia - nn Cece
Ottilie - nn Tilly
Prudence nn Pru - oober cute
Cordelia - Cordie or DeeDee

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 20:42

the Dixie approved list :

Beatrice - love it esp nn Bea

Ariane

Amelia - please don't be put off by perceived popularity, DD1's name is supposed to be common as muck and yet we know of no others. DD2 which is meant to be less common and we know 3!! you can't win if you do and you can't win if you don't

Agatha
Jemima - lovely with nn Jem

Araminta - brilliant, please use it, I'm too chicken with nn Minty!

Antonia

Penelope - Nell or Penny both lovely

dizzydixies · 24/04/2010 20:25

now thats better

just been trying to catch up on other thread now I'm home from work, give me a minute and I'll look at your 'preferred' list and give you approval some suggestions

OrangePetal · 24/04/2010 20:17

am never one to shun a nameless baby however I'm not quite convinced I've fully forgiven you though

girls are my speciality though so it would be rude not to help!!

OrangePetal · 24/04/2010 19:58

dizz... have you forgiven me for seeking a wider audience now then?

cyteen.. i disagree (here we go again!), i reckon you could use it should the situation aroused itself
