Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks Clary
Forgot Rosalie and Adam, so still a long list

Whoever said Emily is not that popular is on another planet I think!

In girls' top 10 for years. No 1 more than once. I know about a dozen of primary school age.

In yr later list OP I like Harriet and Henry. Or maybe William but he will know several others.

alfiemama · 05/05/2010 12:59

I said Bernard Chipmonkey but hubby vetoed,I think could have been cute.
Thanks Thenextmrsdepp, I agree totally

Think we have narrowed it down a little to

Annie-Rose
Lilianna
Harriet (nn Hattie)
Emily

And for a boy
William
Henry
Noah Jack
Samuel

TheNextMrsDepp · 05/05/2010 00:31

Annie-Rose is really sweet, but it is quite a child-like name and she will have it for life. She might be cursing you in years to come! Well, I guess she can drop half of the name, and she has a choice! But it does fit well with the other two names and that's so important. For that reason - Marley, Jesse, Keeley - nooooo! Wrong!! Good luck whatever you decide.

chipmonkey · 05/05/2010 00:17

What about Bernard for a boy?
(Rough Bernard, tough Bernard, stop-it-that's quite enough-Bernard)

alfiemama · 04/05/2010 10:43

Oh god maybe it is hormones lol
Really, oh twee is not good.
Back to the drawing board

Aubergines · 04/05/2010 10:39

I think Annie is lovely. I also love Rose (or Rosa). But I am afraid Annie-Rose sounds very twee to my ear.

alfiemama · 04/05/2010 10:26

Thanks Bellissima, your right I think the Rose would be dropped, shame really.
I like Hattie but not as keen on Harriet, no offence to anyone with a Harriet

GladioliBuckets · 04/05/2010 10:24

Don't think Jessica or Matthew go with your other names. Not a fan of hyphenated names but I think Annie-Rose does kind of go with Alfie and Archie. As does Charlie IMO.

bellissima · 04/05/2010 10:04

I really like Annie, but don't like hyphenated names. I think in practice that as soon as she starts nursery/school the second part would be dropped anyway. Of your original list I also love Hattie (maybe not that dissimilar to Annie). The Hattie I was at school with was a Harriet (also nice).

alfiemama · 04/05/2010 08:06

Thanks Chipmonkey, I don't think too many people ie my friends in rl would know anyway, and its special to the boys as they love the books.

I also think its a sweet name in general, and when she's older she could always have Anna, Anne or even Rose.

On another plus side, I'm almost sure you won't get too many nursery pegs with Annie-Rose on. Whereas Rosalie is becoming very popular now.

I'm now trying to find a boys name featured in the stories, quite like Charlie, ie Charlie Moon

I love Annie-Rose but are you sure you want to copy the Shirley Hughes books?

alfiemama · 03/05/2010 21:33

Thanks Tillywee
I really like Annie-Rose now and its special to the boys as we have a big Shirley Hughes book that a relative bought us when Alfie was born, but maybe its preg hormones again

tillywee · 03/05/2010 21:28

I like Rosalie, lottie and violet....Rosella is nice.

Marley and Henry are nice.....I was dying to call one of my boys Harley but hubby had none of it

alfiemama · 03/05/2010 21:14

Going to have to do a sneaky bump here
I'm actually really excited now about Annie-Rose, any opinions would be most appreciated

OP posts:
alfiemama · 03/05/2010 21:00

Ok still struggling with names, nothing seems to be just perfect.

What do you think of Annie-Rose? obviously I have an Alfie, and there is a famous children's book with both names in.

So it would be Alfie, Archie and Annie-Rose

Or Jessica.
For a boy we now quite like Matthew

Any opinions appreciated.

Thanks everyone
Dramamama I love your names, Lilliah is lovely.
se13mummy, thanks for the advice on Hattie, I was worried that it would be confusing with their friend Harry. But I think like you said if we call her Hattie from the start, there would be no confusion.
I like James aswell, so that is on the list now also.
Thanks Henry37

henry37 · 23/04/2010 19:50

like hattie and emily love holly.
boys i like charlie and william love noah.

SE13Mummy · 23/04/2010 14:10

From your list of boys' names I'd go for Benjamin (or maybe Benedict), William or Henry. I think Violet, Elsie or Hattie are all lovely and not overused at the moment.

Personally I'd go for Harriet and use Hattie as a nickname from the outset so she can choose in time to come to be Harriet, Hattie, Harrie/y or Hat! I have a Harriet who is known as Hattie; she's never been called fattie any more than any of the Emilys we know have been Emily Bemily or Alices, Alice Balice! We know a fair few Harry/Harrisons and there's not been any confusion as to which name belongs to which child. Iris is another pretty name that would go well with your sons'.

Another couple of names I think would work well are James, Thomas, Mary or Rosa. I see no reason why you can't continue with the 'granny chic' but also give your child an individual name.

Dramamama · 23/04/2010 13:18

By the way don't know if u knew but there's a song by Thin Lizzy called Rosalie, i love that btw not many of them to the £, of your list i like:
William
Jesse
Noah and
Rudy.
Evie (although ur right it is v-pop atm),
Holly
Rosalie
Violet.
Don't know if this will be to your taste but this was my shortlist b4 we had DS1:
BOYS:George (which is what we picked)
Jesse (great minds?)
sean
Alex
Cassidy(DP hated)
Max
Riley.
GIRLS:
Honey
kara
Lilliah
Lilah
Megan.

Like your choices although not too keen on:

Benjamin - know heaps
Rudy and Marley

Am in NZ and Noah is very popular here.

Elsie Heidi and Keeley (my sister was nearly called this)

But I do like Cecily for a girl

alfiemama · 21/04/2010 20:13
