Personally I can't bear names that can be shortened, so go with Cecily. My friend has a Cecily, it really suits her, so cute.

muminthemiddle · 18/04/2010 00:22

Arabella-goes better with your surname too.

Magaly · 17/04/2010 23:35

hmmm, I prefer Cecily but Cecily Westward doesn't sound greaaaaat. But, I still prefer it to Arabella which is always going to be Arabella Buckley from The naughtiest Girl in the school..

motherlovebone · 17/04/2010 23:31

Arabella!

SparkyMalarky · 17/04/2010 23:18

Cecily - very beautiful!

seashore · 17/04/2010 23:14

Sorry for saying this but I think Arabella sounds like a magazine name, or a clothing brand. Sorry, sorry.

Cecily is a lovely name.

madamefreckle · 17/04/2010 23:04

I would go Cecily (lovely name) - then work hard on elocution to avoid the potential lisp problem!

lowrib · 15/04/2010 00:41

Sid's pretty cool though!

arsesandoldlace · 14/04/2010 16:00

Arabella Westward sounds lovely and well balanced.

differentID · 14/04/2010 15:49

oops.

didn't read whole thread

In which case, go for the name which has the diminutives you prefer as another poster has said.

seeker · 14/04/2010 15:48

Cecily.

Vulture · 14/04/2010 15:46

Arabella - then you can have Bella, Bel, Ella as her friends will all shorten it as she goes to school. With Cecily she might end up with Sid. I like Cecilia though.

differentID · 14/04/2010 15:46

How about a compromise with Cecily Arabella? Then wait till she's born and decide which you want to use.

whippybamboo · 14/04/2010 15:44

Arabella

Evenstar · 13/04/2010 14:22

Arabella, I would have had this or Annabel for my DD but not possible with our surname, it goes beautifully with yours.

MrsJohnDeere · 13/04/2010 14:15

Cecily

lovechoc · 13/04/2010 14:08

Arabella definately

5DollarShake · 13/04/2010 14:03

Arabella.

lowrib · 13/04/2010 12:41

Oh! Sorry

I like both of them (sorry).

Do you have any preference as far as NNs go?

Possibly ...

Ara
Bella
Belle
Bea
Ella

or

Ci-ci
Cece
Celia

Cecily... it's lovely

Arabella does go well with your surname but it makes me think 'precocious'.

lowrib · 12/04/2010 23:06

Another vote to wait until she's born and see which one suits best.

kalo12 · 12/04/2010 22:53

arabella

MoChan · 12/04/2010 22:50

Arabella goes better with your surname. Plus, Cecily is MY daughter's name.

LouMacca · 12/04/2010 22:44

Arabella. Please not Cecily.
