Whats so bad about Thea?

Currently expecting dd no.3. Other dd's are Grace Margaret and Ava Ruby. My maiden name was Theobald so was rooting for Theodore if having a boy in honour of that side of my family but since its a girl am very much liking Thea instead. Dh has vetoed it saying its too "out there" for us! Is it really too different to use with Grace and Ava? Am waiting for him to get home from work to inform him my cousin has just named his daughter Roccoco Rose and thats clearly more "out there" than Thea!!!

PS I know 2 Thea's...one is 6 and is a Dorothea but known as Thea and the other is 10 months and just Thea

Thea is so not "out there"... where is your DS living!!!?? It sounds beautiful with Grace and Ava and is a perfect fit... it's not like you have come in with a Tyler-Mae or a Demi-Leigh. Really really don't get his problem

Disclaimer...nothing wrong with Tyler Mae or Demi Leigh if that's what you like..just thinking they don't fit with OP's DD's names...just before anyone gets edgy

Its gorgeous! And I'm liking the Thea to rhyme with Mia sound - the only one I know is Norwegian and she pronounces it Taya, which is also really pretty.

Thea isn't out there. I'd say it's hovering just outside the top 100. It's pretty. Some people can't say their tee aches though. but then some people would pronounce hazel 'ayzel.....

Dh still wont even entertain it sadly - even after showing him all your positive feedback . May have to be relegated to a middle name. We had a Greta conversation this morning, but agree that its quite a harsh sounding name next to Grace & Ava. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, very helpful! But its back to the drawing board...

Thea is a name in its own right though isn't it?

Not said like Tia; it is said with a soft Th sound which can be tricky (like the start of three) if you have a lisp.

I'm terribly sorry to have to say it, but Roccoco sounds like a stripper name. . . !

Thea, on the other hand, is nice, and not at all "out there."

I like it, but I don't really like shortenings used as the full name, and as Theadora reminds me too much of Wizadora, I wouldn't use it.
