Would love to hear opinions on this name.

Do you think this stands well alone as a given name? I know is a short form of Sarah, but I'm not keen on Sarah at all.

Sadie the cleaning lady....

I must be getting old if I'm the only one who makes this instant association...

i always want to sing 'sexy sadie....what have you done....la la la la' etc....so it feels slightly sexualised to me....

SuzysZoo · 02/04/2010 10:18

I nearly went for it for one of my girls but then someone told me it sounds like sadist, or shortens to sad, and that put me off. I prefer Sarah, Sara, Zara or Zadie now, as they have a slightly different sound.

Lovely name - go for it.

slightly too adorable. Don't do it

One of my very loveliest friends is a Sadie. Love it. Growing up it ticked the "cool" and "pretty boxes".

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

Top name!

SillyTillyBilly · 01/04/2010 23:21

It's not my taste but I know one and she is so cute. Having said that someone once said to me something along the lines about it being a name that very posh people use and also very working class but nothing in between (not my comment I might add!) I only know one!

I prefer Sarah personally with the nn Sadie.

sunshiney · 01/04/2010 23:05

I LOVE it

Mousesmummy · 01/04/2010 22:07

DH's nan is Sadie and we have a little one at our school - LOVE IT! Not likely to become 'over-popular' but still sounds like a 'proper' name IYKWIM.

SqueezyB · 01/04/2010 21:59

I really like Sadie! It's one I've been toying with, my only concern is whether it sounds a bit american.

I think it's fine as a stand alone name.
