Would love to hear opinions on this name.

Do you think this stands well alone as a given name? I know is a short form of Sarah, but I'm not keen on Sarah at all.

LiquoriceLila · 10/04/2010 10:31

Its horrible.

Rockbird · 08/04/2010 09:07

I love it but I am one sometimes as a nn for Sarah

Ellokitty · 07/04/2010 23:04

Not keen myself. Also agree with the PP that it is a bit of a dog's name.

Northumberlandlass · 07/04/2010 22:33

I do love the name and it was on our short list for a girl...however (did you know there would be one), in our area we have a lady who advertises on the back of buses etc called Sadie the Bra Lady !

rocketupbum · 07/04/2010 22:17

I love it! My DD is one!

AllieW · 07/04/2010 11:10

It makes me think of a lyric from a Nina Simone's Mississippi Goddamn: www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Mississippi-Goddam-lyrics-Nina-Simone/C111B80F40F12A19482569A10024B5 5E. I don't know if the name is therefore inextricably linked in with slavery for African American women, but I would be wary about using it just in case given the song's inference.

lowrib · 07/04/2010 10:27

It's not always a NN - my granny was called Sadie as her given name, not a NN.

LouMacca · 06/04/2010 16:16

Sadie is cool. Love it.

legscrossed · 06/04/2010 15:57

love it.........
was one of my short list

CheerfulYank · 06/04/2010 15:56

I knew two adorable sisters who were Sophie and Sadie...a bit twee but they were the darlingest little things.

luluvalentine · 06/04/2010 02:02

lovely name - knew a cool sadie too

Granny23 · 06/04/2010 02:00

The Sadies I know are all actually Sarah

CheerfulYank · 06/04/2010 01:28

I think it's very cute. What else is it a nn for? Susannah?

darksideofthemooncup · 06/04/2010 01:23

Love it! Well I am biased as it is my dd's name

BitOfFun · 06/04/2010 01:20

Enid Blyton's St. Clare's series for me- but I still like it. It seems like a nickname to me though, but for what? Sarah? I don't know.

Granny23 · 06/04/2010 00:30

I am afraid it smacks of Sadie the cleaning lady for me too. Must be a generational thing.

lowrib · 06/04/2010 00:22

Lovely. It was my Gran's name (she was Welsh).

HerHonesty · 04/04/2010 21:39

really not very nice at all.

madamefreckle · 04/04/2010 21:26

Lovely, uncommon, good balance of not-silly but pretty

stressheaderic · 03/04/2010 18:37

Haha, love the ref to David Blunkett's dog. Funny the very silly and trivial things that put you off names.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/04/2010 18:04

Lovely.

shockers · 03/04/2010 18:01

Sadie is a lovely name

mathanxiety · 03/04/2010 17:47

Love it. I know a sweet 3 yo and a really old lady with this name (3 yo was named Sadie and the old lady was named Sarah originally) and it's lovely for both. Old fashioned yet hip all at the same time and not many names can do that without the Trying Too Hard factor.

Magaly · 02/04/2010 18:41

I think it's lovely. considered it when i was pg with dc1. it was the name of david blunkett's guide dog (think he has a new one now).

when you are pregnant the tiniest little thing can make you afraid to use a name. WHO knows the name of david blunkett's guide dog!!?
