Jonathan - just more versatile in my head than Henry ....

misspollysdolly · 04/04/2010 14:22

Another biased vote for Jonathan

MrsCadwallader · 03/04/2010 14:34

p.s. just seen your other thread re nn for Henry. We've never shortened it (unlike his two brothers whose names get shortened) but if we did we'd use 'Hal'.

MrsCadwallader · 03/04/2010 14:31

I have a Henry (aged 5) and it does seem to be increasingly popular (annoyong how you don't get a crystal ball when you name your kids, huh? ) I still love it, but if I were naming him today I might not choose it. He was one of three Henry's at preschool, but is the only one in his year at school.

I love Jonathan, and would def have it on my list were DS4 ever an option!

SillyTillyBilly · 03/04/2010 12:56

I like them both. Funnily I know 2 Jonathans both under 2 and 2 Henrys under 2 so one isn't more popular that the other here.

forkhandles · 02/04/2010 14:42

Jonathan

MillyMollyMoo · 02/04/2010 14:41

Henry

SoMuchToBits · 02/04/2010 14:39

Jonathan (but also biased as it is ds's name)

I think Henry is currently more popular. Jonathan is the sort of name that isn't really rare, unusual or embarrassing, but also there won't be 6 of them in his class.

Our Jonathan gets called either Jonty or Jonny for short, although he is mostly Jonathan.

Lora69 · 02/04/2010 14:16

this is practically 50:50 lol! I keep changing my mind between the two..

If i have 2 boys I will probably end up using both, unless i go off one, but still want to pick my absolute fave in case i only get to use one!

Which sounds like the elder brother and which the younger?

Another thing to think about is my girls name-when i have her- i seem to like a few names ending in the e sound- Elodie, Phoebe and just discovered Romilie- so im not sure about having a sibset which rhymes (Henry and Phoebe- is that naff? Or can you get away with it?)

My fave girls name is Meredith, but have to convince OH of that one!

thanks again xx

Jonathan called Johnny.

babyincubator · 02/04/2010 11:36

My brother is Henry John and gets nicknamed Hen or Johnny which I love

traceybath · 02/04/2010 10:26

Well I have a Henry and its lovely - not overly popular either but equally not that unusual.

I like Jonathan but Johnny was too rugby player for my DH.

boodleboot · 02/04/2010 10:24

I love Jonathan....is on my list....i think that my ma would hate it tho as it is a name of a cousin who mum fell out with the parents of.....
