Seraphina gets my vote.

Have you ever seen Hamlet? Get hold of a DVD and please watch it before you head down to the registry office with Ophelia in mind. Now the David Tennant (Mmmm) one is out you Amazon are doing the Kenneth Branagh one for only £4.49!

mathanxiety · 02/04/2010 19:46

Serafina (with an F) or Tatiana.

mamazon · 02/04/2010 19:35

i am in love with the name Ophelia. but neither mine nor dp's surname would work with it so i could never use it.

emsyj · 02/04/2010 19:32

Seraphina is nice, but prefer the Serafina spelling for some reason.

MrsStig · 02/04/2010 15:38

Tatiana is DD's middle name...DH and I both love it,but weren't brave enough to use it as her first name.

Ophelia is lovely, but I'm not atall keen on Seraphina.

Cortina · 02/04/2010 15:33

Ophelia is getting stupidly popular where I live - there are 3 in reception and year one combined and I know of a few babies. I think it is going to surge in popularity.

Quite like them, interested in what others think. I quite like poncy so up my street

Bloody hell, they are all über poncy crap names. This isn't serious thread is it?

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2010 14:34

Tatyana is a faabulous name, dahling.

telsa · 02/04/2010 12:13

I like Seraphina - I know one who is known as Fifi

StrictlyKatty · 02/04/2010 11:57

See that is what I don't get. If a Russian met a girl called 'Tatty' they would think it was ridiculous. Tatiana is shortened to Tanya. I don't see the point in giving a child a Russian name only to totally butcher it!

jenduff · 02/04/2010 11:31

I know a Tatiana with nn Tatty - lovely name and delightful girl.

AllieW · 02/04/2010 11:14

Seraphina and Ophelia are my favourites. I suspect Seraphina just gets it because, if Mumsnet is anything to go by, there are a few people thinking of Ophelia atm.

Magaly · 02/04/2010 08:41

Similar story here. If you introduced your child as Serapahina 'round here, people might think you were a orphan being cared for by the nuns..

In its favour though, it can be shortened to Sera / Sara in an emergency. eg summer jobs etc

stressheaderic · 01/04/2010 20:54

Sometimes I wonder what the hell I'm doing on Mumsnet....
I know of nobody with these names, as I live in an area populated with Connors and Ellie-Maes...
I'll stick around though, as it's good fun.
Oh, and Ophelia for me.

JoeyBettany · 01/04/2010 20:19

Seraphina, pretty but IKWYM re: barbie connections- bit much for an adult woman?

What about Serena?

ChippingIn · 01/04/2010 20:16

Personally wouldn't choose any of those.

pitterpatterfeet · 01/04/2010 19:57

Definitely Ophelia or Seraphina. I think people would assume Russian/Eastern European if you went with Tatiana.

madly · 01/04/2010 19:49

All great names though my favourite is Tatiana

chimpsmostwelcome · 01/04/2010 18:26

I love Tatty! Never heard of anyone called that, but love it straight away.

StrictlyKatty · 01/04/2010 18:21

I prefer Ophelia.

Tatiana is a Russian name and would sound odd with a none Russian surname imo.

Seraphina I don't like at all.

irisblue · 01/04/2010 18:15

They're all really pretty.

The only thing with Ophelia is that I can't shake the Hamlet connection. Love Tatiana (knew a lovely girl called Tatiana who was called Tatty) and Seraphina is very pretty - although would probably be called Sarah - which is nice, but nothing special. Although maybe you could call her Phia?

Where we live 'Offy' is short for Off Licence - perhaps not a great nickname for a little girl? I prefer Seraphina.

Seraphina. Really wanted it for DD but it was another name that DH vetoed
