Albert or Arthur?

Hello,

Just wondering what you thought of Albert (with nickname Albie) or Arthur for a boy? Arthur I like as a full name, but not so keen on the nn Art (any other suggestions?) whereas I love Albie and just a bit unsure of Albert!

Thankyou!

I like both, esp Arthur .

Arthur doesn't need a nickname, the ones I know (one 10, one 5) don't use one AFAIK.

I prefer Bertie as a nn for Albert actually - but that doesn't really go with our surname!

Love Albert

Love Arthur. Albert is ok.

I have an Arthur and he's always Arthur - you don't have to shorten it.

One of DDs late grandfathers was an Albert (never abbreviated), the other was an Arthur (usually Artie).

I can't quite get my head round a little lad called Albert nowadays (read DD Albert and the Lion t'other night, have been in Lancashire long enough to do it properly now).

we loved arthur and art but arthur did NOT go with our surname, and anyway DS2 was a girl
Not keen on Albert, sorry

I prefer Arthur.

Are you me ?

I had both of these on my shortlist when we had a boy.

Loved Albie after reading it in a Howard Marks book years ago. Loved Arthur but as my BIL is called Art felt I couldn't use it.

Also Ernest/Ernie ranked fairly high & Wilfred/Wilf.

Artie?
