ok...for some weird reason NO ONE seems to be calling their baby girls this, and i love it - it's also really one of my only girl options now (6 months). i don't want to use a popular name but i'm worried there's a v obvious reason why agatha isn't a popular option....

be honest - what are your thoughts????

love the idea of this little punk being a grumpy old lady

Great Aunt Agatha in the Jeeves and Wooster stories ate broken glass for breakfast. There are some good strong Agathas out there - DS3 might have been an Agatha.

MrFibble · 26/03/2010 20:15

love it.

DramaInPyjamas · 26/03/2010 20:13

Miss Agatha Trunchbull.

noooooooo!!!! but then i don't love cutesy children...so perhaps if potential-she grew up to be a mean headmistress i'd secretly be rather smug

I'm not so sure. Wasn't that the name of the headmistress in Roald Dahl's Matilda?

lisbethsw · 26/03/2010 20:09

well that aunt agatha sounds amazing, if this bump is a girl i only hope she is as clever as your aunt

if it's a boy...i hate thinking of b's names, too dull. going to use one of the family surnames i think, meh.

(i know i should care more...)

oh thank god! yes, i love agatha christie, and it's such a beautiful name - i also like agnes, a family name, but people seem more divided on it. our agnes was a great beauty (appearentl), but i really don't cary those genes

I had a brilliant Great Auntie Aggie.

She used to spike her husband's tea with valium.

DrivenToDistraction · 26/03/2010 20:03

Agatha is an excellent name. Beautiful. I hope you choose it

I'd have loved it for a DD but I had to use it for one of our cats instead. It's pretty much unpronounceable in the language they speak were I live...

absolutely lovely, really gorgeous, I would have loved an Agatha but my dh vetoed it

WorzselMummage · 26/03/2010 20:00

Oh i love it. I said to DF the other day how pretty it was after wtaching something about Agatha Christie and he looked at me like I was suggestng Gurtrude !

It is lovely, I like Aggie too. Very classy.

I think it is a name due for a comeback though.

specialsmasher · 26/03/2010 20:00

I like it. Aggie is great, too.
