Hi,

I'm expecting my first baby in July, haven't found out the sex. Me and OH have come up with the following shortlists...

For a girl

Madison
Elodie
Brodie
Eloise

For a boy

Dylan
Dexter
Evan
Alexander

Opinions please.

Thanks

Another vote for Eloise and Alexander.

Agree that Brodie sounds male and quite hard name. Elodie always makes me want to say Melody. Madison is too USA for me to relate to. Dylan and Evan are ok. Dexter does make me think of cartoons.

BoggleJunior · 23/03/2010 13:05

Eloise and Alexander.

What about Elsie?

The only one I like is Brodie.

But it is a boy's name (I know quite a few).

I like Elodie or Eloise for girls and Alexander for a boy. I particularly like the shortening Xander.

lovechoc · 22/03/2010 19:03

Eloise and Alexander

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/03/2010 18:58

I like Eloise and Dylan (Im calling my baby that when hes born in July )

yellowcircle · 22/03/2010 18:55

I think Dexter is really cool. Dylan and Alexander are also nice. I don't like Evan and I don't like any of your girls names (sorry!).

MercyMe · 22/03/2010 18:50

Eloise and Alexander

Slartybartfast · 22/03/2010 17:59

Madison no keen
Elodie how do you pronounce
Brodie like it
Eloise like it

For a boy

Dylan like it
Dexter not my choice
Evan not my choice
Alexander bit of a mouthful

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 22/03/2010 17:57

Madison and Brodie are pretty awful, sorry. Brodie sounds so harsh and not pretty at all. Eloise is nice, as is Elodie. All the boys names are nice.

MrsJohnDeere · 22/03/2010 17:54

Elodie and Alexander

Others not my cup of tea, sorry.

Ivykaty44 · 22/03/2010 17:53

Elodie, I know one and she is the only one ever to have gone to the local comp - and they have 2500 children there she is a delightful girl...

ShadeofViolet · 22/03/2010 17:53

Brody is a lso a boys name and is quite masculine IMO.

Evan makes me think of that awful man on Dragons Den.

I like all the others, but my favourites are Dylan and Elodie.

nowwearefour · 22/03/2010 17:50

Eloise and Alexander

Eloise and Alexander.

liliputlady · 22/03/2010 15:57

I agree with 30something!
Elodie and Eloise are pretty.

thirtysomething · 22/03/2010 14:57

Elodie or Eloise.
Evan or Alexander.

Don't like the rest, sorry!

youremindmeofthebabe · 22/03/2010 14:46

i like all the boys names. not too fussed on Eloise, Elodie or Brodie.

Pasiphae · 22/03/2010 14:19

Eloise and Dexter. Pretty!

Elodie is nice but very much the flavour of the month. Brodie is too boyish and Madison is so not my cup of tea.

Dylan,Evan and Alexander are OK. Safe and a bit boring, for me anyway.

Love Elodie. Love Dylan and like Dexter a lot too (it's becoming more popular -but mostly because it's great!).

missseptember · 22/03/2010 13:06

I agree with tummytickler. Elodie or Alexander. My dd goes to nursery with a Dexter and to me it always sounds like a cartoon character. Plus I think Elodie or Alexander work for both babies, children and adults
