Not keen on Liam, also Olivia v. popular, but otherwise they're all lovely. I particularly like Florence, Reuben & Raphael.

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/03/2010 22:37

Charlotte

or

George

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 21/03/2010 22:36

Olivia - like but popular.
Florence - ooh, I love this. She could be Flora without failing the Prime Minister test.
Pippa - fails the PMT (acronym pun not intended)
Rosemary - I think it's stodgy, and there's a billion little Roses out there at the moment
Charlotte - love it, but didn't this shoot up in popularity due to SaTC?

Edward - adore
George - depends on your cultural associations. Around here, it's a Greek lawyer's name. There's also Curious George the monkey. But don't know if any of that resonates in England, so might be great.
Liam - trendy, not in a good way
Reuben - Don't like, but couldn't tell you why
Raphael - I like it a lot. Rafe is a good nickname
Winston - Well, Churchill, and 1984, but I think it's probably due for a comeback
Albert - my favourite along with Edward

So I'd go Florence, Edward or Albert

RockinSockBunnies · 21/03/2010 22:33

I'm not so sure about Pippa - could you use Philippa and have Pippa as a nickname? Also, there are many, many Olivias about so if you want a slightly more unique name then perhaps avoid that one (though it's a nice name).

The only one I don't like out of the boys names is Liam - reminds me of Liam Gallagher.

tiredlady · 21/03/2010 22:32

I forgot Albert.
Fantastic name but only if shortened to Albie

jellybeans · 21/03/2010 22:31

Olivia...too popular, dislike Oli
Florence...ok, bit old granny
Pippa...ok
Rosemary....not keen but Rose/Rosie nice
Charlotte...bit boring

Boys:

Edward... dislike
George..boring
Liam...too popular, not keen
Reuben...not keen
Raphael ....awful
Winston...reminds me of that guy of child of our time
Albert...ok

tiredlady · 21/03/2010 22:31

Olivia and Charlotte are overused. Ilike Florence very much, Pippa and Rosemary both sweet.

Liam - has slightly rough connotations round here.
Winston - oh no

The other boys names all fine - Raphael is a beautiful name but you might have to live in Hampstead to get away with it

Clary · 21/03/2010 22:26

I like Florence (DS2's name if not DS!)

Also like Edward, George, Albert.

hellymelly · 21/03/2010 22:24

Pippa is lovely and I haven't heard it for years .I like a lot of the others too but not Winston,or Liam .

Skegness · 21/03/2010 22:23

Florence or Reuben

dizzydixies · 21/03/2010 22:21

Olivia or Charlotte
Reuben or George

lilolilmanchester · 21/03/2010 22:16

(oops sorry, common = popular, no other meaning intended!)

lilolilmanchester · 21/03/2010 22:16

Olivia - nice but common
Florence - not sure, but pretty. Think about how you feel about shortened versions
Pippa - very pretty, and know an adult Pippa.
Rosemary - lots of shorter options, if you choose this, accept that she won't get called "Rosemary" for long
Charlotte - pretty, but be sure you like Charlie/Charl as shortened name (it won't be your choice as they get older!)

Boys:
Edward - like
George - like
Liam - like
Reuben - ok, but wouldn't choose
Raphael & Winston - sorry, don't like

Missus84 · 21/03/2010 22:10

Olivia - lovely, but very popular
Florence - nice
Pippa - ok as a nickname, maybe not good for an adult?
Rosemary - nice, good nickname potential
Charlotte - classic but quite uncommon at the moment

Boys:

Edward - bit dull
George - nice, safe bet
Liam - not keen at all
Reuben - lovely
Raphael - pretentious?
Winston - screams "cool" to me, maybe a bit try hard

Quattrocento · 21/03/2010 22:06

I usually come on the baby name threads to point and laugh (and I make no apology for that - some of the threads are frankly hilarious) but I actually really like most of your choices

Except for the afterthought, which is a bit bald and ugly on the ear. I'd avoid Winston as well.

CoolTumble · 21/03/2010 22:04

Forgot one : Albert
