notsoteenagemum · 23/03/2010 16:03

Girls:

Olivia- nice and love nn Liv, but very popular.
Florence- really like but also becoming popular because of Florence and the Machine.
Pippa- I love Pippa think it's really pretty. Not Philippa though don't like the mans name with an extea bit to make it a womans name thing.
Rosemary- I like it but prefer Rose.
Charlotte- I like it but not sure about nn Lottie.

Boys:

Edward- Not keen to stiff upper lip for me.
George- Love George.
Liam- I love Liam and wanted it for Dd if she was aboy but dh said no because he knew I fancied Liam Gallagher
Reuben- No way I don't like this at all.
Raphael- The connection with TMNT will always be too strong for me.
Winston- Like this but think that it will be popular after Billie Pipers son.
Albert- Like this and Albie an a nn.

MarianneD · 23/03/2010 15:52

Florence or Reuben, would avoid Olivia - likely to be half a dozen others in her class!

piscesmoon · 22/03/2010 22:09

Edward and George-don't like the rest of the boys choice.
I like all the girls except Pippa.

nomorewine · 22/03/2010 22:02

Florence & Albert are my favourites from your list

bagpuss · 22/03/2010 21:50

Edward is nice, my ds3/dt2 has it as a middle name.

George is a great name (is ds2's), I still really am glad we chose it.

Like all your girls names bar Rosemary but I would agree with others re: Pippa. Needs to be a NN for Philippa as a full name (which is a great name also but then I am biased!).

janeiteisFedUp · 22/03/2010 21:48

I don't know who Stanley Holloway is...

JeanLouiseFinch · 22/03/2010 21:48

I love Raphael

janeite, I didn't think anyone else on here was old enough for Stanley Holloway references...

LaDiDaDi · 22/03/2010 21:42

Not particularly keen on any of your girls choices tbh if a bit harsh.

Edward, ds's middle name, I really like it but def on the up in terms of popularity.
George, dp loved it but I just thought of Peppa. Will have it on reserve in case I ever persuade him to go for dc3!
Liam, ok.
Reuben, too trendy/of the moment imo.
Raphael, no.
Winston, I love this but it would have been ridiculous withour surname (dp described it as a win-win situation iyswim).

Bumnoise · 22/03/2010 21:37

Girls:

Olivia - pretty but becoming ever-so popular (if that's a consideration)
Florence - LOVE it, Florence and the Machine, very cool
Pippa - prefer Phillippa with Pippa as NN
Rosemary - beautiful and classic
Charlotte - no

Boys:

Edward - on my own list
George - too many
Liam - hate it, very 90s
Reuben - like it, if you are Jewish
Raphael - a ninja turtle
Winston - Harry hills knitted character K factor thing - no

janeiteisFedUp · 22/03/2010 21:33

Girls:

Olivia - nice
Florence - lovely
Pippa - dislike
Rosemary - not for me but ok
Charlotte - lovely

Boys:

Edward - fab name
George - nope
Liam - ok but not for me
Reuben - ok
Raphael - nah
Winston - terrible
Albert - terrible (and destined to be eaten by a lion, mayhap?!)

Charlotte and Edward are my faves.

Hulababy · 22/03/2010 21:28

Girls:

Olivia - pretty
Florence - love this name, my favourite
Pippa - ok, nn for Philippa though, not as full name
Rosemary - don't like
Charlotte - nice

Boys:

Edward - love this, love Ned as nn
George - like this
Liam - don't like
Reuben - not keen
Raphael - don't like
Winston - don't like
Albert - this is growing on me, I love Albie as a nn

CoolTumble · 22/03/2010 10:44

Love the honesty! Thank you

randomimposter · 22/03/2010 09:04

Girls:

Olivia.... pretty
Florence... like it
Pippa.... dated for me and a bit little girly
Rosemary.... not keen, bit old lady without being classic for me.
Charlotte.... bit dull, sorry

Boys:

Edward... really want to like Edward, but struggle, though like most of the NNs
George... LOVE
Liam... very nice
Reuben... ok
Raphael ... as a name I like it, but think you have to be quite a character to carry it off
Winston... makes me think of dogs

Struck at how diverse your choices are...not a certain type or style. Good for you!

diddl · 22/03/2010 08:46

Don´t like Pippa, Rosemary, Winston or Albert.

Bucharest · 22/03/2010 08:43

Olivia yawn. There are trillions. She would be one of 348 in her schoolyear.
Florence- lovely lovely lovely
Pippa- is either a pet poodle or a pornstar
Rosemary-Janet/Brenda-esque for me.
Charlotte- Lovely, classy elegant, not too many newborns now, they are all about 15.

Boys:

Edward- I hate this, irrationally.
George- ditto
Liam- I imagine Liam to be a bit thuggy and naughty
Reuben- like this
Raphael- too flowery
Winston- too surnamey and clumpy for me
Albert- flat cap and whippets.

Maggie00 · 22/03/2010 08:35

I like all your girls' names apart from pippa.

Rosemary, with Romy for short would be my favourite. I like lottie and olivia too.

Reuben and Edward are good names. I like George and LIam as well. Raphael is lovely too. Albert and Winston... no. I know it was a former prime minister, but I am picturing a boxer dog here. I like George too. Liam is lovely and not 'rough'. It is the gaelic form of William.

Raphael or Rosemary

minxofmancunia · 21/03/2010 23:19

Florence lovely, our choice for ds (2nd dc if he'd been a girl)

Rosamary nice too, lovely old fashioned name

Pippa, don't like

Charlotte too popular

Boys, like Edward esp. if shortened to Ted.

I know Liam is a bit scallyish esp round these parts but I still love it!

george okish all other boys names horrible, sorry, and Winston is a dog name.

CaptainPicardsPineapple · 21/03/2010 23:13

Reuben and Florence.

Beautiful.

menomena · 21/03/2010 23:10

Olivia - fine but a bit boring and overused
Florence - pretty
Pippa - quite cute
Rosemary - nice, my cousin is rosemary with rosie as nickname
Charlotte - lovely, this would be my pick from your girls names

Boys:

Edward - nice handsome name
George - has been growing on me, a good name
Liam - never liked it, seems a bit rough... sorry
Reuben - great name
Raphael - nice but don't think I would dare to actually use it
Winston - sounds like the parents are trying to be cool, but actually seems a bit geeky
Albert - Not keen on at all, too old and stodgy sounding. What about Arthur?

I would go for Charlotte or Reuben

blogpage · 21/03/2010 23:04
