What do you think of the name Kip for a boy?

I'm really stuck with boy's names and was wondering what you thought of Kip?

I also like Ned and kind of like Rafferty, although not too sure about the shortening Raff. Again, also like Barnaby, but don't like the shortening Barney!

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Isn't a kip a dirty mess!????? I'm thinking of the kitchen in witnail and I. That is a kip.

Kit short for Christopher is much nicer.

I knew a lovely Kip which was short for Kieran. I always thought it was lovely.

I am not loving Kip. It is also a name featured in the Oxford learning tree books which you will know all out when you DS gets to primary school

I quite like Kip. I think its a variation on Kipp which is old english meaning poited hill.
It could be short for Kipling, Kipton, Skipper, Kiply or Kipper!!

Like Ned & Barnaby.
Prefer Raphael to Rafferty.

I wouldn´t discount a name because I didn´t like the short version tbh.

Call them the full name-problem solved!

It means chicken in dutch and is the unit of currency in Loas.

Ha ha! I know that about Ned, but as we don't live in Scotland, I don't think it's a problem...

I would also like the names to be shortenings of longer names (Ned would be Edward - so if he did ever move to Glasgow he could change his name!) and can't think of what Kip could be a shortening for..

Any other suggestions would be very welcome!

Kit as a shortening of Christopher is better.

i love it, but would prefer it if it was a shortened form of a longer name...i have no idea why though!

Ned is truly awful - in Scotland it is the word for 'chav' I have to warn you of that.

Kip sounds like a dog's name to me but Rafferty is nice...
