Love Shay

Claire236 · 20/03/2010 15:11

My youngest son is called Shay which is both Celtic & unusual. Was declared chavvy on here but that appears to be the case with every name thread I've ever looked at.

How about something 'different' in the sense that it's unusual at the moment but a well known name so not 'out there'? Thinking of Steven - don't know any young ones, but a good name and Steve or Stevie really cool. ( think Steve McQueen )
Others along same lines: Richard , Duncan, Philip, Martin, ...

LittleMissWorryHead · 19/03/2010 15:33

Arlo.

Done

littledawley · 19/03/2010 15:28

mathanxiety · 19/03/2010 15:25

Ruadhan (pr ROO-awn)
Raftery NOT RAFFERTY (the blind poet Antaine O Raifteiri - Raftery - was known as the last of the wandering bards)
Roland

schroedingersdodo · 19/03/2010 12:09

motherbeyond I so sympathize with you!

I want something not very popular for my DS as well, and I never like the suggestions I'm given!

I saw that someone mentioned Joachim, and there's a reasonable chance my son will be called that. I like Emil and Milo, but I plan to have an Emilia someday, so both are out for now.

If you have a name you absolutely love, you can tell your DH it's your one suggestion - maybe he will get used to that eventually. It can work if he has no strong preference so far. Did he suggest any names?

motherbeyond · 19/03/2010 07:55

yes,i wasn't suggesting quim as a name!i told my brother that i liked the name quin and he said, eyw,it sounds like quim... and told me that's what it meant.

i like a few of the suggestions, but have just read them out to dh over brekkie, and he said no to all.....driving me mad
