Gabriel or Alistair?

I have had the most motley selection of names. These are my 2 current favourites. I think they're pretty different, and have a different preference depending on which way the wind blows. WDYT?

Alastair is lovely and very underused. Gabriel is a nice name but there are loads of them around here if that is something that bothers you.

I'm in Oz and seldom here either here, so I don't think popularity is an issue. It will definitely get shortened though, and I prefer Gabe to Al or Ali. But I just can't make up my mind...

Love Gabriel and have done for years. It is popular but, personally, I think it's a shame not to use a name just on that basis.

Gabriel is a gorgeous, stylish name.
alistair is ok, very pedestrian, bit dull.

I definitely prefer Gabriel by a mile!

Gabriel is a lovely name.

Alistair is nice enough, quite a sensible name - nothing wrong with sensible but I'd have to go for Gabriel.

Well, it looks like DH won't go for Alistair so I guess Gabriel pulls out in front!

Wow, they're so different! Gabriel is a poet's name (IYKWIM) and Alistair is more... muscly. Think I prefer Gabriel.

Got to be Alistair, and it has to be spelt that way.

Mind you, I am kind of biased.

Gabriel has a certain gravitas which is nice.

I adore Gabriel. Badly wanted it for my son, but the bloke didn't want to risk him getting the nickname of "Gay" at school!!
