I'm sure there was someone called something like Mayshallahhashbaz!

I want triplets called Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo too. I did suggest them to somebody on here once. They weren't quite so taken with them as I am.

Rosamund is lovely btw.

Maybe more Assyrian/ Babylonian -- the Persians (Cyrus) overthrew Babylon after the Nebuchadnezzer period, and the Assyrians came before, so former cultural influences are more likely to have been at play than those that came afterwards.

Should say 'little rose' or 'sweet rose'. The suffix '-in' is both a diminutive and an expression of endearment.

mathanxiety · 10/03/2010 16:41

Roisin is ROH-sheen. Means 'little rose' in Irish.

Is Shadrach Chaldean? It was given to Hananaya or Chananya by Nebuchadnezzer when he was taken to Babylon. I think it was the name of a Babylonian god.

Oh and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo-the fire guys, right? I think I know that from Veggie Tales...

I actually know a few Meshachs. Well, two

is it? I thought I was an expert in obscure biblical names - quite fancy triplets called Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo!!

It was the use of the word "unique" that threw me!

I know. It sounded as if you were saying that Rosamund is a made up name like those you mention.

Has spent 60+ years spelling her name

cyteen · 09/03/2010 19:25

Gorgeous, would definitely be on my list for a girl

mathanxiety · 09/03/2010 19:22

I think I prefer Rosalind too. Love Roisin.

seeker · 09/03/2010 18:53

I like Rosamund - but I think I prefre Rosalind - it sounds like a 'stronger" name somehow. And there is a fab Rosalind in Shakespeare as a role model!

Amapoleon · 09/03/2010 17:22

I like Rosie.
