Elliot, Elias

What about Elliot (for a boy! Has Scrubs made it too girly?)

Is Elias better? Would you say El-ee-as or El-eye-as... or something else? (I know how it's said here but just want to check if it's the same elsewhere!)

Thanks

I love Elias, would consider it if this bump turns out to be blue :). I would pronounce El-eye-as.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/03/2011 22:47

I love Elliot. Not so keen on Elias. I can't comment about the scrubs thing as I don't watch it, so I guess it wouldn't matter to me as I had no idea there was someone in it called Elliot, let alone what their surname is.

Greenwing · 25/03/2011 20:47

Elias is more classy and unusual than Elliot (apologies to parents of Elliot reading this)

I would pronounce it 'El-eye-as'.

pilates · 25/03/2011 17:59

Elias really nice, Elliot do not like.

travispickles · 25/03/2011 17:55

Elias or elijah for me

BelligerentGhoul · 25/03/2011 17:50

Love Ellias; not so fond of Elliot.

luvviemum · 25/03/2011 16:10

Love the name Elliot - it's my DS2's name and he gets called Els for short. I think it is a strong name but has a lyrical quality about it too. Always been my fave.

themacsmum · 12/03/2010 14:06

Love both Ellis and Elliot
Not so keen on Elias

RachieB · 12/03/2010 12:46

I loved all the El names when pregnant with my 2nd son

went for Ellis in the end ( Ella was our girls name choice)
he is sometimes El,Els/z etc!

sweetkitty · 10/03/2010 09:48

I do love the name Elliot havs always been my "boys" name never thought I would get to use it.

Another thing is this Scrubs thing, he would have the EXACT same name as the female character in it. Would this be a problem? Is Scrubs that well known? If it were Corrie Street I could see the problem.

Elliot is lovely but I still think of the kif from ET whenever I hear it.

Elias is nice- would pronounce El-eye-as and E-lye for short.

BigMomma3 · 09/03/2010 21:10

Oops!

BigMomma3 · 09/03/2010 21:10

I have an Elias - we pronounce it E-lie-us. No one has ever tried to shorten it but his friends often miss the E off and call him Lias (lie-us) which is really quite sweet. Really suits him and we love the name as it's still quite unusual so nah, don't use it .

CSWS - ah I remember that now DP has said he has gone off Elliot so we have no name for this little boy!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/03/2010 15:32

Elliot is wonderful!
It is ds' middle name, but if it weren't it would be top of our list for dc3 if it's a boy.

sweetkitty · 09/03/2010 13:51

Elliot is on our shortlist as well.

One thing that puts me off is it will get shortened but what to? El? Ellie?

birdofthenorth · 09/03/2010 11:25

Exactly what LadyintheRadiator said. I love all three names but that would be my order of preference.

BessieBoots · 09/03/2010 11:01

DS" was going to be an Elias, I love it. He just didn't look like one in the end.

MathsMadMummy · 09/03/2010 10:58

I love the name Elliot, it was on the shortlist for DS (actually DH preferred it to the name I settled on!) BUT I decided against it because I knew everyone would drop the T at the end. Which would really pee me off!

Love Ellis and Elias as well though

applecharlotte · 09/03/2010 10:51

Love Elliot.

Was just about to suggest Ellis.

My son's middle name is Elliott so i love that too.

I would pronounce it 'ee-lye-as'
