Florence is a sort of flower name (apols if someone has already pointed this out). It means 'flowering' or 'in bloom' - the Italian city Firenze was named so as it was full of flowers and our 'Florence' is just the English way of pronouncing Firenze.

It's bar far my fave from your list and I think it goes lovely with Daisy. You can have Florrie or Flora as a nn?

PepsiPopcorn · 17/03/2011 08:59

From your shortlist I like Florence and Clementine :)

spottyock · 17/03/2011 07:59

I have a Daisy.
I like Mabel, Edith or Edie, Eliza and Alice.
Have always liked Esther but my niece is named that.

tstar · 17/03/2011 07:06

I was going to say Scarlet reading the title befor I even saw your post.

Daisy and Scarlet very pretty, nice, lovely names which sit really well together.

Bubbaluv · 17/03/2011 06:36

Scarlett or Matilda.
Martha sounds like a frumpy old lady to me.
Clem sounds like phlegm
Flo reminds me of periods.

thirtysomething · 16/03/2010 15:21

Was going to suggest Hannah and Esther but see you have a shortlist! I like Martha and Florence best from your list - I would think Daisy and Matilda will become daisy and Tilly which sound v. similar...

Daisy and Summer?

I love Clementine, I can't have it as my last name is the same length and begins with CL...NN would probs be clemmie though soo Clemmy and Daisy.

I think Daisy goes well with Martha, and I adore Florence (its was my G.grandmas name too) What about Matilda (tilly)or Elisabeth.
Daisy and Elisabeth is nice.

We have a DD who is called Daisy Ella, and didn't want another flower first name, so were thinking of Milly Rose if our second had been a girl (but DS turned up, so that name won't be used by us.

hf128219 · 14/03/2010 21:19

Daisy and Iris
Daisy and Freya

Bessie123 · 14/03/2010 21:12

Daisy and Violet- as favoured by the Victorians.

Bessie123 · 12/03/2010 13:38

Ella Bella Mandela Daniels? What a let down. He could at least have the grace to choose names that rhyme with his surname.

Iklboo · 12/03/2010 13:02

Small hijack but I read recently that Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, 'Enders) called his daughter Ella Bella Mandela

nowwearefour · 12/03/2010 12:59
