I love Amelie. It was my grandmother's name and she was an amazing person loved by everyone who met her. It is also my DD's middle name. We considered it for our DD as a first name with Amy as the nickname.

nickytwotimes · 04/03/2010 10:15

Love Lily and Isabelle personally.

They are all lovely names tbh.

However, it really must be a joint decision.

There is only one girls name that dh and I both like, so that is our choice if the one I am currsntly incubating is a wee girl. (It isn't on that list though)

If you really wnat to pick, mention it during the throes of labour.

diddl · 04/03/2010 10:10

I like Amelie & Imogen.

Boco · 04/03/2010 09:38

how about Heidi?

WithMomentsOfMildPeril · 04/03/2010 09:29

How about Rosalie? Angelica?

SE13Mummy · 03/03/2010 23:57

Imogen, Rosa or Ella. Don't like Eleina at all - is it Elaine-a or a weird spelling for Eleanor?

If you don't like the names on his list then don't agree to choose one of them, wait until she arrives and see if a particular name seems to fit her.

TigerFeet · 03/03/2010 21:15

dd1 would have been Amelia and dd2 would have been Imogen if I'd had my way but dh vetoed both

dd2 is Isabel - yes it's popular but I love it and it suits her and I can't imagine her being called anything else now

dd1's name is also v popular but isn't on your list

SO from your list

Amelia
Amelie
Imogen
Isabelle/Isobel/ISabel

TrowelAndError · 03/03/2010 21:10

The only ones I like are Amelia, Imogen and Rosa. Most of the rest are just too dull and ubiquitous for me, nice names as they (mostly) are.

PlanetEarth · 03/03/2010 20:55

My two daughters' names are both on this list - maybe my DH has a second family he hasn't told me about!

foreverastudent · 03/03/2010 19:39

Amelia - too trendy but ok
Amelie - too associated with the film
Annabelle - bit posh
Eleina -the best
Ella - like 'elle' better, sounds like a nn
Ellie -far too popular
Emily- nice but vv popular
Imogen -good,up and coming
Isabelle - lots of 'belle' names about just now
Isobel -getting trendy
Lily - far too common
Millie -nn for Amelia?
Robyn - could have 'bobbie' nn- dont like
Rosa -good
Rosie -nn for Rosa?
Sophie- too popular

lifeas3plus1 · 03/03/2010 18:47

Robyn

When we found out we were having a boy, dh declared he would only countenance one of two names, both of which were v dull. I didn't raise the subject again until the midwife handed me ds and said "does he have a name?". To which I replied "well, I think he looks like [insert ds's name which I love but which dh had vetoed early on]". She said "oh he does, doesn't he? Hello little [insert name]". And that was that. About 3 days later, dh realised he'd been ambushed but now agrees it's a perfect name.

I'd go with the "hello Zoe" route, myself. I love Zoe.

notevenamousie · 03/03/2010 17:58

Emily

Still love it

nannynobnobs · 03/03/2010 17:57

I have an Ella. It is a perfectly cromulent name. And she is the only one in her year, and as far as we know, the whole school!
I like Evangeline- Evie for short but the long name is lovely.
I used to like Emmanuelle (Emmie?) but there are an awful lot of soft porn films on Bravo with Emmanuelle in them...

janeite · 03/03/2010 17:52

Then again - I quite like standard names!

janeite · 03/03/2010 17:52

Amelia - ok bit fussy
Amelie - no
Annabelle - same as Amelia
Eleina - no, this is silly imho - but Helena is lovely
Ella - ok
Ellie - ok-ish
Emily - nice
Imogen - nice enough
Isabelle - fussy spelling
Isobel - lovely
Lily - lovely
Millie - no
Robyn - no
Rosa - no
Rosie - no but I don't mind Rose
Sophie - no

Isobel is my favourite.
I don't like Jasmine or Zoe, though - sorry.

I agree that your dh's list is mostly fairly standard, pretty names, without standing out much.

StrictlyKatty · 03/03/2010 17:46

Anything but Millie. I can't stand that name. It's so hideously babyish. I can't imagine being 40 and trapped with a name like Millie.

I like Imogen a lot and Amelia is lovely.

MummyTumble · 03/03/2010 17:34

Imogen cos thats what DS would have been

ChoreDodger · 03/03/2010 17:34

Zoe is lovely. When she's handed to you, jus say 'oh hello zoe!'.

ChoreDodger · 03/03/2010 17:30

They're all pretty and fairly popular. I like most of them.

what names did you like?

compo · 03/03/2010 17:28

omg sweetkitty how did I miss that? - congrats wow, a boy!!

sweetkitty · 03/03/2010 17:24

I really like Zoe too

jellybeans · 03/03/2010 16:50

Annabelle

yellowflowers · 03/03/2010 16:38

I would go for Annabel (spelled like that) which is one of my faves or Rosa which is so very lovely.
