I like Nicholas and Timothy. They are two names from my generation that I would be happy to see on a baby. They have longevity. Unlike say, Neil, Martin, Keith, names men y age are called. Oh, and Steve. God, I know so many Steves. It'll be fifty years before I want to see a baby called Steve!!. Sorry, probably offending everybody's husband there, so I'll stop now. But I mean, Nicholas has a slightly dated feel but in a good way.

Great name - I have a grown up Nicholas (and a Timothy) and neither are remotely wet - one is a super cool DJ, the other a macho sports fanatic.

Not frilly at all, it's a great name, use it!
(I may be a bit biased, I have a 10 month old called Nicholas)

violethill · 18/02/2010 22:56

Beautiful, under used, go for it!

hellymelly · 18/02/2010 22:55

Oh I love Nicholas, and I don't know a single one under 40 so he would be the only one in his school without having something freaky .Classic and good abbreviated too.

pointysayhiphip · 18/02/2010 22:53

ehhmm, it's over-long and on the wet side for my own personal taste. Along the lines of Timothy.

Knicker-less

LittleDonkin · 18/02/2010 22:47

pointysayhiphip What do you mean by frilly?

Good, strong, traditional name. I like it.
