Hi MN's thankyou for your replies when I asked if you liked the name Finn.I still love it and I realise that DH's mind will not be changed no matter what I say!!
I have a son Ellis and expecting second son in 4 and a half months.
The only name we can agree on is Kelly.Does it go with Ellis and is it too girly??

I really like it for a boy (not for a girl). I'm sure Kelly Jones has a lot to do with that

AllieW · 12/02/2010 18:39

I like Kelly for a boy. As far as I'm aware, it was originally a boy's name and then got hijacked. The only thing, for me, is that it sets of a Music Hall song in my head (I'm possibly the only 31 yr old in the country for whom that would be true):
"Has anybody here seen Kelly?
K-E-Double L-Y
Has anybody here seen Kelly?
Find him if you can!
He's as bad as old Antonio,
He left me on my own-io.
Has anybody here seen Kelly,
Kelly from the Isle of Man."

Booyhoo · 09/02/2010 14:54

i know male kerrys too. like tha aswell.

Booyhoo · 09/02/2010 14:53

i love the name kelly for a boy, but my OH would never go for it.

Ondine · 09/02/2010 14:51

I know a male Kerry, i've always thought it worked quite well though he is really good looking so that might help .

I think Kelly is nice for a boy, not too girly, there are quite a few famous male Kellys which helps.

cece · 09/02/2010 14:19

In the same vein I have always liked Hilary or Kim for a boy but was not brave enough to use them.

slowshow · 09/02/2010 11:26

A 35 year old woman's name? How dare you, I'm 29

Though, clearly, it was already passe when my parents came up with it in 1980...

tartyhighheels · 09/02/2010 09:48

I cannot stand this name for a girl but for a boy it is lovely, i know a lovely man called Kelly. He is Irish too.

CinderellaRach · 09/02/2010 09:46

Thankyou for honest feedback. If I chose it I'm very sure I'd be ridiculed and I'd hate our son to be laughed at.I still love the name though.I read it's from gaelic background and my father is Irish. There are many Irish names in my family.

I dn't like th name Kelly for boy or girl, sorry.

KAEKAE · 08/02/2010 22:48

No I am sorry I don't like it for a boy...I'm female, my name is Kelly....and yes I was named after Kelly from Charlie's Angels..my mother thought she was stunning.lol Poor me, I would have prefered a name like Amelia.

Anyway, no, not keen on it for a boy there are far nicer less feminine names out there.

mathanxiety · 08/02/2010 18:14

No and thrice no. And definitely no with a brother names Ellis.

nickelbabe · 08/02/2010 13:24

iirc, in Welsh, it's just a boy's name and would be ridiculed if used for a girl.

wubblybubbly · 08/02/2010 13:16

I like Kelly and Kerry for a boy, but I agree that it doesn't sound right with Ellis.

CinderellaRach · 08/02/2010 13:12

I like it but from replies seems like a 'marmite'name some love it and some hate it..I love Kelly Slater too and Kelly Jones!I need a name and it has to go with Ellis so hard!!

Love it! Probably because of the delightful Kelly Jones, but also it's rarely used for girls any more. Ellie seems to be preferred now (there are hundreds of them at DS's school). I have a brother named Courtney, another "girl's" name. It never did him any harm

aSilverLining · 08/02/2010 11:44

Kelly Jones is my ultimate piece of eye candy.

My son has a name used for girls and boys, and also has long blond hair so is often mistaken for a girl {shrugs shoulders}. Depends if it would bother you, and also him. He may get teased for it, but then he may get teased for many things. Wouldn't use ellis too though as don't think they go together well.

gagamama · 08/02/2010 11:43

Ellis is sweet but Kelly doesn't go with it at all. Kelly Ellis sounds like the name of a thirtysomething receptionist, not the names of two lovely little boys!

MegSophandEmma · 08/02/2010 11:41

Kelly slater the surfer dude mm mmm.

Yep I think it's a fab name for a boy and goes well with Ellis

PuppyMonkey · 08/02/2010 11:38

It reminds me of Kelly from Charlie's Angels. She was very gorgeous though. She was my first schoolgirl crush I think.
