What do you think of Marilla as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

marilla sounds like brand of sanitary protection.

marilla super-plus for heavy flow

Vivia · 06/02/2010 18:54

In my opinion Marella is beautiful, but Marilla isn't.

Flightattendant · 06/02/2010 18:46

Yeah but maricela rhymes with varicella

innit

you Just Can't Win.

sunshiney · 06/02/2010 18:45

I think it sounds like a brand name for some sort of food.

bidibidi · 06/02/2010 18:42

Sounds like a Marmite-Vanilla flavour biscuit.
Maricela is quite pretty, though.

BalloonSlayer · 06/02/2010 18:40

Magilla Gorilla sprang to my mind.

Flightattendant · 06/02/2010 18:36

For me it would always worry me that people would mishear her on the blower.

It has a LEGION of synophones.

Pronounced Mar-lannah obv.

frazzledoldbag · 06/02/2010 18:23

What about Marlana as an alternative - I know 2 at school and it's pretty?

frazzledoldbag · 06/02/2010 18:22

Sounds like the name of a paint colour on a Dulux paint chart. In fact I think it might be.........

Am I getting confused with my Dinah's? I remember the one who was a good fairy type from the Faraway Tree but who was Anne's best friend? ( the one she got drunk on raspberry 'cordial'? Was that Diana? hoever it was, I loved her and her black hair as a kid ( I was ginger like Anne and felt her pain and her admiration)

LetThereBeRock · 05/02/2010 00:01

I don't like it. It's one of those ugly old lady names imho.

Limara · 04/02/2010 23:54

Is this the way to Amarilla?

darkemerald · 04/02/2010 23:52

The list of things Marilla rhymes with is very helpful, thanks

Marilla the Gorilla.

Nah.... But I have always liked Dinah from reading that series of Enid Blytin books.

monetinfebruary · 04/02/2010 23:48

I like it. Wasn't it the old lady from Ann of Green Gables?

CJCregg · 04/02/2010 23:48

How about this?

shockers · 04/02/2010 23:45

Marilla was crotchety but fair ( and old)... Dinah, however, was black haired and beautiful

AleksandrMeerkat · 04/02/2010 23:39
Hmm
differentID · 04/02/2010 23:39

Anne of Green Gables. Sorry.

AleksandrMeerkat · 04/02/2010 23:38

Yeah, and that's vanilla.

Seriously? [hmm}

mollymawk · 04/02/2010 23:38

I think of Anne of Green Gables too. Nice name though.

AleksandrMeerkat · 04/02/2010 23:38

Manilla, and flotilla.
