Digby?

It may be the hormones/ insomnia talking but I think I may like the name Digby .

DH and I both like the whole old name thing and have been pretty settled on Wilbur for a while now but I am suddenly having a wobble!

What do you think?

I probably would be defined as a ponce by Mumsnet standards. No 4x4 but public school all the way!

Wilbur was such a cute pig!!! Also the name of one of the Wright brothers! Not so sure of infamous Digbys!

Sorry, not a fan of Toby but I like the whole old fashioned name thing, not as keen on choosing alternative names but these two are the only ones we can agree on! DH wants to call the baby Marmaduke - Duke for short but I am not convinced.

charles/chip and wilbur sounds better than charles/chip and digby

charles and digby put together sounds extremely posh.. unless of course you are posh and proud

I like them both. I know dogs named Jack, Tom and Oscar, so imo any name can be a pet's name.

I don't see what is wrong with making giving our children as individual names as possible - isn't that the whole idea of 'naming' something or someone? To make it/them uniquely identifiable.

I like both. Digby I think could work better as a kids name as it doesnt sound quite so grown up as Wilbur.

What is your DS1's name - does it seem to 'go' better with either of them?

Awful. It's a dog's name.

I don't like Wilbur either but it's an improvement on Digby.

I quite often get the 'animal' connection raised as a comment but not fussed by that - all names have connections to something.

Still like both, think Wilbur probably has more flexibility with abbreviations etc, quite like it shortened to Bill or Wil.

We did consider Diggory but it reminds me too much of Harry Potter - Cedric Diggory.

Unless you want his nickname to be "the biggest dog in the world", don't even go there.

Not wild about wilbur either, though. Sorry. Both sound like pet names to me.
