I think it's a lovely name

The "one that got away" love of my life was a Simon so I could never use it.

hannahsaunt · 29/01/2010 11:14

I love it - on my list if dc4 turns out to be a boy rather than the girl suggested by the scan. Again, only know lovely Simons.

cyteen · 29/01/2010 10:56

I love it, it was my brother's name and is now DS's middle name. And yes, my brother was quietly cool! Agree with Bucharest, MOAR SIMONS.

LittleDonkin · 29/01/2010 10:53

Do you think it would go with my surname which is the second part of my username???

I like it. My BiL is Simon and we often call him Sim which I like.

Bucharest · 29/01/2010 08:22

I think it's lovely. Classy, timeless, elegant.

We need more Simons and less HarryJoshuaFinleys.

mathanxiety · 28/01/2010 22:06

Is it a little Young Conservatives c. 1990?

sweetnitanitro · 28/01/2010 17:57

I really like it, it would be on my list if it went with my surname.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/01/2010 17:49

Sorry, it has that "wet" feel to me too - like lots of names with i as the first consonant :

Tim
Nigel
Clive

LuciaRose · 28/01/2010 14:20

Simons I know tend to be very nice, but I've always thought of it as a bit wet. Pleasant enough, not nerdy, but never the coolest guy either - in my own experience!

Niecie · 28/01/2010 14:20

Great name.

I know a Simon who is DS1's age (9 yrs) and thought, when I first met him, that it was a name that was rather underused and really shouldn't be. I used to work with a Simon too - in his 40's now, lovely chap.

It also has the added advantage of not being mega popular name.

MsMarple · 28/01/2010 14:15

Sorry, it just seems to go with simple, or slimy, for me.

weaselbudge · 28/01/2010 14:09

Classic biblical name - will always sound ok and disagree with pipsqueak - i think it is due a revival so get in there first!

pipsqueak71 · 27/01/2010 22:31

Not keen, agree with previous post, more a name of my peers, (1971). Not yet old enough for a revival I reckon!

usualsuspect · 27/01/2010 21:49

Its a bit meh

Spidermama · 27/01/2010 21:49

I love the name Simon.

mummyloveslucy · 27/01/2010 21:48

simeon too close to simian for my liking

Sunshinemummy · 27/01/2010 20:51

Not keen but do like Simeon. Have to say I had an ex called Simon who was strange.

LittleDonkin · 27/01/2010 20:38

It's a name that has grown on me while ttc and as he (if I have a he) gets older can be shortened to Si or Simo. I mentioned it to my sister when a few months ago and she turned her nose up at it. I think it is cute. Definatley a contender! I really shouldnt be counting my chickens but I cant help it!!!

I met one at a group the other day, there is also a Jason. I'm sorry to say that I found it a bit 'unusual'. Nothing wrong with it of course, I just a consider it a name of my generation. (born 1975).

JeMeSouviens · 27/01/2010 20:28

DSs middle name is Simon. I agree with the others, never met a Simon I didn't like. They all had this quiet coolness about them.

snurgy · 27/01/2010 20:25

I'm surprised to see a Simon thread on here! I love it but am very biased as it's my son's name.
