"Darcey" query....

Hi everyone
Ever since I found out I was expecting me and OH have LOVED the name Darcey for a girl. However, looking through forums here and on other sites - it seems to have had a massive surge in popularity and now I am not so sure. OH is still keen but I hate the idea of DD being one of several when she gets to nursery/school etc. My current fave alternative is Romilly. My OH has a long French surname - Crouzieres. I think Romilly Rose Crouzieres sounds beautiful but OH is still leaning towards Darcey Elizabeth.
PLEASE HELP! Going round in circles here!!!!

Ally (33 + 5 with yellow bump)

ps - name we have so far for boy is Zachary Andrew. Opinions and/or alternatives appreciated!!!
xxxx

Heya
Yes sorry I did mean that way.
Im on Babycentre with an Oct 09 girl and in that birth club there's about 10 out of 1300 babies - press ;join' on the main page and look at the stats for Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan and it is very common.

Have met many little Darceys here in west london I'm afraid -only one romilly though¬!

MummyTumble · 22/01/2010 11:56

Love Darcey - who gives a stuff if it's popular! Thats cos it's a great name

Also love Zachary too (but DH won't have it)

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 22/01/2010 00:07

annoying rise in popularity for me! darcy as in Smashing Pumpkins is a name a would have chosen.
It's been spoiled though - the only girl i know called Darcy is 3 and a proper madam. Hates everybody, proper little spoiled girl. It's awful. I wanted that name, but it's gone now.

sorry for the personal thing

allydennis · 21/01/2010 23:58

Roxy25 - do you mean go for my choice - Romilly?? I presume you mean Darcey is 'now' in a bad way!!

You can't have Darcey and Elizabeth together, not since Pride and Prejudice!!

Two4One · 21/01/2010 10:46

Blame Kate Garraway (GMTV) for the rise in popularity...

Lovely though - will always be the ballerina to me.

RnB · 21/01/2010 10:41

MUCH prefer Romilly to Darcey.

Goes beautifully with the surname too

Coldhands · 21/01/2010 10:40

I love the name Darcey, especially when you put it with Elizabeth (another name I love).

I know Darcey is getting popular but I personally haven't heard anyone with the name. Don't like Romilly, it sound like a couple of names have been chopped and put together.

mathanxiety · 19/01/2010 22:52

I tend to think of it without the D; it just sounds wrong. Romilly is nicer, and Romy is even better, imo.

KittyNotVengefulAnymore · 19/01/2010 22:46

My friend has a 3 week old DD called Darcey. I think it is increasing in popularity as I hear it a fair bit more that I did 5 years ago.

HinnyPet · 19/01/2010 22:43

are you on bounty, OP?

shoobidoo · 19/01/2010 22:22

Romilly is beautiful. Feminine and elegant.

I'm afraid I don't like Darcey or Zac, both are also quite common.

theagedparent · 19/01/2010 22:21

I much prefer Romilly , especially after I heard Darce being shouted across the school playground the other day. Dulcie is also lovely.

beccagrace2 · 19/01/2010 22:17

romilly is lovely, romilly rose sound a bit like a boat so i would use romilly elizabeth, very classic.

HinnyPet · 19/01/2010 22:06

Romilly Rose Crouzieres is totally beautiful! Stick with that!

SqueezyB · 19/01/2010 09:17

I know 2 Darceys, I think it is getting quite popular. Go with it if you like it though!

LittlePushka · 18/01/2010 21:12

Totally agree with mumtoted (but perhaps I would as I have a ted myself!(Edmund)

mumtoted · 18/01/2010 21:02

Romilly is a gorgeous name.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 18/01/2010 20:58

My favourite boys names are Matthew, Patrick and Evan

boodleboot · 18/01/2010 20:49

Darcey just reminds me of old horsefaced kate garraway....i think it is a very of the moment name.....Romilly is really pretty, much prettier and Romilly Elizabeth is lovely....

allydennis · 18/01/2010 20:47

Mmmm - Hugo is very cute! And so is Elodie, Thanks for the honest opinions. Keep them coming...
