Don't give up!

A while ago I posted for views on a babyname Marilla Elizabeth...and was given generally negative opinions....I was so disappointed as after 36 weeks of trying to figure a name for baby #3 that DH and I BOTH liked, I was gutted that it was so poorly received by the good ladies of MN!

Anyway after another couple of weeks of searching through babyname sites and books we decided that there was no name we loved more and decided to call our daughter Marilla Elizabeth.

I was very nervous about letting people know her name at first but I have had nothing but very positive responses (even from my mum who has no problem in letting her opinions known usually!!)

Anyway even if people are just being nice I have decided that giving the baby the name we both loved was much better that trying to settle for a compromise...and I just wanted to pass on my experience to anyone else who is alone is loving a name for their expectant child - sometimes you are right and the rest of the world (MN world at least!) may not be!!!!

I don't understand that whole 'ask mn' concept re baby names!

You either like it, in which case use it.
Or you don't, so don't!

Who cares what people think? Not me!

Congrats, Pepa.

I love Marilla Elizabeth!

My Mum didn´t like what I called my son & that didn´t make me change my mind, so strangers on the internet wouldn´t!

Congratulations!

I knew that a lot of folk wouldn't like BabyG's name so I deliberately didn't aks onhere. I liked it, didn't erally care if MN did too

I agree with skihorse on this one. Im personally aghast that people spend so much time seeking opinions about baby names!

Personally I wouldn't give a rat's arse because I'd be confident in my opinion, especially in light of the fact the chosen name did not fit in to the same list of 10 names we see bandied on this board day-in, day-out from here to eternity.
