Would it really be that bad...

to use the name Damian? Dont jump on me lol, I havent decided on anything yet, but 4th baby is due in 5 weeks and we still cant settle on a name, mostly because I love Damian and nothing else matches up. Does anyone have a Damian/Damien?

I think Wallace might be quite cool, but possibly not with Williams, and definitely not with Ellis. Personally I think Damian is a bit similar to Mason, but I don't think the Omen is recent enough to be a problem any more.

If you decide Damian isn't going to work.....I love it by the way, (was going to use it 18 years ago, but my mother freaked and said it was satanic LOL), how about Brian?

My cousin is called Damian and was born right after the film 'The Omen' was released. It certainly hasn't been an issue for him, and will be even less relevant now (30+ years on). It is a very strong name, it'll be shortened to 'Damo' (Dame-O), so if you're happy with that- go for it!

Damian was a pre-existing name which happened to be chosen by a screenwriter to describe a fictional character in a film which will soon be forgotten.

If you love it then go for it. It's a lovely name.

My middle child has a lisp at the moment! bless her. Saul would be a good name in terms of being easy to pronounce for them I suppose.

Oh I cant believe I am finding this so hard, it was really easy to name my other three. My eldest is Summer Christine, middle is Elsie Catherine, youngest is Mason David. Only other issue with Saul, is that its one syllable, so it doesnt quite flow with the sibling names.

Is that being too picky?

I thought about that, though I dont think its so bad when its not a sibling...not like say calling this one jason...mason and jason

I am not really keen on seth, for some bizarre reason it always makes me think of snakes. I really dont know why.

I have been looking up sol, as I do like it but not solomon. I found the hebrew version of sol is Saul and means prayed for, which is very true, I had a miscarriage before this baby and then during this pregnancy I had an abruption where I nearly went into early labour at 18 weeks. Also saul is the previous name of the apostle paul...paul is my husbands name.

Its growing on me, but I am not sure it goes well with mason and would it matter that its hebrew spelling? Is it venturing into the ridiculous a bit? Honest opinions, I can take it!

Damian/ Damien is a great name, and I think the Omen connection is very thin at this point. DD is in class with a Damien whose father is a church deacon, very nice boy. No-one has ever mentioned the film wrt the name.

I would completely avoid Miller Williams, ditto Wallace. (Mill, Millie same as Wally)

Other names with a similar ending are Simeon and Samson.

Must confess I thought of Only Fools and Horses first and then The Omen! But also there's the actor Damian Lewis and the artist Damien Hirst.

Am siding more with your hb on this one, sorry!

I think Damian is a fine name. It'll only be seen as the name from The Omen films by adults and not by children he will grow up with. If you like the name, go for it.

Aww now I do like hamish, but discounted that a long time ago as husband does not like it one bit. Always the way.

I am speaking to him about Damian, he is looking a bit more welcoming to the idea...

Closely followed by Rufus.
Also like Niall.

Well I dont dislike it, but it makes me think of blur, or northern lights with the daemons in that. It also sounds to me more like demon or something evil than damian does lol. But on the whole I do still like it, just nowhere near as much as damian.

Yes thats why I wanted a strong mannish name for this boy too. To match with Mason, man whom works with stone, you cant really get much stronger than that.

Someone suggested Miller, but I thought Mason and Miller was a little bit too far...lol!

Mason is another strong, mannish name, goes well with Damian. Absolutely does not go with Wallace.

Naelen is a good name as well.

Well I think this thread could help convince him, as I know its mostly the worry that people will think 'satanists' or something.

Especially as our first son is called Mason.
(he was named this as I loved it and the men in my family are stone masons). However I received negative comments before Mason was born about calling him that when we live in scotland, but not a single one when he arrived. In fact everyone tells me how much they love the name on him, and I know they are being genuine.
