Kate is beautiful. Lovely simple timeless.

Along with Anna and Emma.

Stick with Kate though not Katie. katie is fine but a little more twee and popular it doesn't have the elegance of Kate.

(I predict Kate will be beuatiful they all are. as are all Rebeccas-similar style name but not Becky-see?)

Kate is a GOOD name.

I would go for Katharine/Katherine/ Kathryn and then she can choose whether she wants to be Katie, Kate or Kat, or even a Kath.

She may go through a few variations as she gets older......

I think Kate on it's own sounds a little abrupt, and doesn't really work with the formal full name (ie with middle name) to me, which might be why middle names are a bit tricky. However Katherine combines with many things, and Kate is an excellent nn, which sounds fine with your surname (same with Beth/Elizabeth, although Beth Bellingford isn't too good). I think Katherine would go with most of your other names you like.

We called our little girl Katherine but shortened to Katie - wanted her to have the option of Katherine, Kate or Katie when she was old enough.

We didn't give her a middle name as couldn't find one that me and my DH agreed on. If I'd got my way though would have been Katherine Anna. Also think Katie May sounds quite nice.

Kate Elizabeth is lovely.
Kates can still be shortened/lenghtened to Kat or Kitty. Lovely.

I got straight Kate and am rarely called anything else (only a few ever say Katie - doesn't bother me, but don't tend to suggest it) - never really wished to have a longer name, the abbreviated version was always fine.

Ella goes next and they chime well together. Wasn't so keen on it when younger, but love it now.

I know a Kate who is just Kate, but wishes she had a "real" name ie: Katherine, although many people assume that she is a Katherine anyway. I also know a Katherine who is always known as Kate and hates being associated with the name Katherine. So I guess you can't win either way.

Anyway, I really like Kate, and it is not at all common at the moment (around here anyway).

My DD is Katherine Ella. She is called Katie, Katie Kates and Kate. She likes all of them but has asked lately to be called Kathy which I am not at all sure about.

Katherine Ann is one of the prettiest names ever. I went to school with one girl named this and never forgot it.

Kate is a brill name, one of our top 3, personally can't stand longer versions including Katie. All the Kate's I've ever known have been very cool and liked by everyone - all the boys fancy them and all the girls want to be their best friends. They've also been some of the most creative people I've known.

Depends who you know with what name I suppose. It's def my fav out of your choices, and I would say with a long surname you've got quite a lot of choice for a middle name (we have one syllable surname so finding it hard to pick a decent middle name)

Kate is a fantastic name (in my completely unbiased opinion ). I know lots of us, and I don't know anyone who doesn't like being called Kate.

I would go traditional with the middle name too - Ann, Mary, Elizabeth etc

How about Alicia (pr Aleesha) instead of Elisha? Or Alice?

DD is Katy but she does get Kate very often too. Her middle name is Jemima which goes with Katy but not with Kate. She loves her name

Love Katie ('tis my sister's name). She never gets Kate. I think Kate is a lovely name too - only trouble is people often drop the "t" and the person gets called "Ka'" a lot. Does that make sense? It's a bit like Matt - they're usually "Ma'".
