I really like Lois... the other two are a bit blah. I knew that with a brother called Woody though, I wasn't going to say, ahhhh! beautiful!

Nelly May and Woody - yeehah! Sounds like a wild west show

you see I really like Nell as a name, but not SO keen on Nelly...
but was interested what people thought of Woody and Nelly... as in 2 "ys"...

I have a (William) Billy, and (getting way ahead of myself) really like Rosanna (Rosy or maybe Anny), but wonder if Billy and Rosy/Anny is too much....?

I can't get past 'Nellie the Elephant' or 'Not on your Nellie'.

I was just thinking what relatively nice normal names for a a celebrity couple.

Congratulations to them!

Nelly or Nellie is the traditional Yorkshire nn for Eleanor. I was going to be Eleanor after my grandmother, and she vetoed it on the grounds that she had been 'Nellie' her entire life and hated it! In fact I don't mind it (though I prefer Nell) and named my own DD Eleanor. May is also a family name so I would certainly support Eleanor May - but I'd go for the full Eleanor and give her the choice of nns - 'Nelly' also has that elephant connotation...

JamesandHisFlamingSword · 16/01/2010 01:57

Like Lois as a first name though!

JamesandHisFlamingSword · 16/01/2010 01:57

Nelly only OK as a nickname (IMO).
I suppose it would then be Fenella - which I don't like either (sorry)

Is Woody a nn ?

I wouldn't honestly go with another "ie" ending, myself

Think 'tis sily.

tispity · 15/01/2010 22:23
