Now I know all the nn's for Elizabeth but just interested on the general opinion.

So my question is, if you had an Elizabeth what would be your favourite nn/shortening?

Mine's is Lizzie, DP is Beth so for this reason we can't agree on this name.

Oh and her middle name is Libby.

Why didn't I just call her Elizabeth? .

I love Bess, and Libby is fab too. Ultimately your DD will decide though - in my experience the nickname everyone at school thinks is cool when she's ten will be the one that sticks!

randomimposter · 15/01/2010 13:59

used to like Lizzy, now prefer Betsy or probably best of all Bess

Hulababy · 15/01/2010 13:58

Beth

Lancelottie · 15/01/2010 13:57

My brother decided on Beth.
His DD decided on Lizzie.
She won!

twolittlemonkeys · 15/01/2010 13:57

All the Elizabeths I have known have had names shortened to:
Liz
Lizzie
Beth
Lisbet
Liza
Ellie
ZaZa

FimBOW · 15/01/2010 13:56

Libby. Fab name

I know an Elisabeth shortened to Lisa but she is Scandanavian.
