Jude for a boy?

sar18 · 10/01/2010 21:31

I am 22 weeks pregnant and having a boy, was wondering what people thought of Jude as a boy's name?

He may be called Jude Xavier (Xavier as we got engaged in St Francis Xavier church in Goa).

Or does anyone have any other good first names that may go with Xavier as this part of the name is a definite!

Thank you for your ideas!

Eglu · 31/01/2010 12:02

I love it. It is DS2's middle name, as it is also a family surname

Bonsoir · 31/01/2010 12:02

There were 1,200 little Judes born in England & Wales in 2008 - it's the 61st most popular name for boys.

minko · 31/01/2010 12:00

Sorry but no - makes me think of smarmy old Jude Law. Means Jew in German too - too many bad connotations there...

vivivi · 31/01/2010 11:57

I love it, will be our first choice for a DS if we ever have one.

heQet · 31/01/2010 10:06

My niece's middle name is Jude. I love it.

hackneyzoo · 31/01/2010 10:03

I love it too, I have a Jude and I don't know any others.

I'm a bit late, but I'm having a Jude as well, around 28th March hehe, so obv I LOVE it!! ;)

Thank you for all of your helpful opinions - definitely making me feel more confident about the name!

Think my husband will be happy as it is his favourite name - I just wasn't sure about it. I was just convinced we were having a girl until the scan, so had a name for a girl but not really thought about a boy name!

Love Jude! Go for it.

Lymond · 11/01/2010 14:09

I know a gorgeous little Jude. Goes beautifully with Xavier.

Also like Xavier as a first name; know one nicknamed Xavvi.

newindieyear · 11/01/2010 14:07

Love it, I know two, bizarrely they both have sisters called Beth.

I know of quite a few baby Judes so I agree that's it's not so unusual any more. I do like it but I think of Mr Law and knew too many female Judes growing up.

blushingm · 11/01/2010 13:25

my brother is jude - he's 29 and has never met another one.......................though at school it was noticed that it rhymed with poohed

jude poohed his pants

i think it's lovely though

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2010 12:02

It's a great name but just getting popular. It's going to date as very 2010ish I think. Just slipped into the Bounty top 100 boys name for example and I know of 4 born in the last few months in our town, 3 boys and one girl.

diddl · 11/01/2010 08:05

Love those names together.

MamaLazarou · 11/01/2010 07:21

Just reminds me of Celebrity Dave, and of Hardy's tragic hero, sorry.
