Please could I have the Mumsnet verdict on this one. We're considering this (amongst others) if our baby is a girl.

It sounds a bit like an ingredient - a herb?
Not in a bad way though.

I also think of Fenella Fielding from the Carry On films

Runoutofideas · 03/01/2010 13:57

Had forgotten about that wicked witch Fenella. I used to work with a Fenella - awful woman, complete scary battleaxe! Would definitely be a no for me because of her!

Heqet · 03/01/2010 12:45

oh yes we are. "likkle owd lay-dee"

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 03/01/2010 12:44

xpost Heget. We are showing our age now

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 03/01/2010 12:42

DS bought me the complete Chorlton and the Wheelies box set for Christmas

'Ello little old lady'

It's a nice name but she'll always be Chorlton's witch

Heqet · 03/01/2010 12:40

Ahhh, chorlton and the wheelies

If you see the wicked witch fenella don't be worried cos there's no cause for alarm, cos we've got chorlton who's a dragon and will keep us safe from harm, ho ho ho ho...

something like that

Oh dear, I am showing my age now

bluesparklypartydress · 03/01/2010 12:33

Hmmm I remember me and my sister finding out that the shortened form for Fenella was Fanny and thinking this was hilarious when we were kids

Only one I know is Fenella Fudge

glasgal · 03/01/2010 12:15

it makes me think of fistula!

DitaVonCheese · 03/01/2010 11:31

It always makes me think of windows :S Not my cup of tea but it's not terrible.

zozzle · 02/01/2010 22:34

PlanetEarth · 02/01/2010 15:26

I like it, it does sound a bit posh though.

perdu · 01/01/2010 23:17

sorry, makes me think of Fenella Double-Barrel....

boodleboot · 01/01/2010 23:04

i like it but it always sounds like Vanilla to me....which is no bad thing....

santasmagicnappysack · 01/01/2010 21:57

It means fair skinned, doesn't it? I like it, especially with Fen for short. In fact I have named one of the characters in my fledgeing novel Fenella.

poinsettydawg · 01/01/2010 18:19

don;t like it

mathanxiety · 01/01/2010 18:17

I always think it's a bit horsey.

frazzledoldbag · 01/01/2010 15:54

Lovely. I'd use it (if I had another).

Paolosgirl · 31/12/2009 16:34

Fenella Fudge

I don't like it (although I like her) - sorry

MaggieMnaSneachta · 31/12/2009 16:31

bad

ChilloHippi · 31/12/2009 10:27

Made me think of Fenella Fudge too. She's a newsreader, isn't she? It's a nice name.

persephonesnape · 31/12/2009 10:21

My ex MILs name, so I am prejudiced...into thinking it is lovely! It's the witch in chorlton and the wheelies though. And makes me think of Fenella fudge. Short versions fenn and nell. I'd go for it actually. .

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/12/2009 10:14

No from me.

itchyandscratchy · 31/12/2009 10:13

we know a girl called fenella, fen for short. I didn't like it to begin with but it's really grown on me. Still unusual enough as well

porcamiseria · 31/12/2009 10:11

yes makes me think of Fenella in Riders

paulaplumpbottom · 31/12/2009 09:58

I'm not keen on it
