We're drowning in suggestions so if anyone has a standout favourite Italian girl's name, please tell me what it is!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Rosetta.

Didn't know it was Italian. Have a friend named Rosetta and she's so beautiful (and cooks!)

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:56

I was going to suggest Beatrice as well but then I imagine the continous having to correct everybody when they call you by the english way.

Giulia?

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:54

oops I thought you were. My phonetics are not great either tbh it's just that I had to practice them when ordering Nursery Rhymes cds for dds .

seeker · 30/12/2009 21:54

Rosaria

geordieminx · 30/12/2009 21:54

Italian friends dd is Beatrice, works well over here, but they pronounce it Bee-tret-chay, which sounds beautiful

zippy539 · 30/12/2009 21:52

Oooh Carmela is lovely too...

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:51

I like Viviana and Valentina except for the hideous friend connotation of the latter.

Rossella?

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/12/2009 21:49

Pippi - That was the pronunciation I was trying to get across but my phonetics are crap!

mrswill · 30/12/2009 21:49

I dont think you can go wrong, most italian names are beautiful. Id go more out there than francesca though, make the most of it so to speak.

Rosa or Valentina are my favourites.

Why oh why didnt i marry an italian man so i could chose such gorgeous names!

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:49

Angelica? MariaSole?

scottishmummy · 30/12/2009 21:49

silvana

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:48

Or Fran.

I am trying to think of other ones but my mind is blank. I am going through my school register.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 30/12/2009 21:47

All the Francescas I knew then, many, were c alled either Fra' or Francy pronaunced Franchy. Here is Franny I think, isn't it?

I like Francesca here because not so popular, in Italy is overused.

I wanted Aurora for my dd2 but in its italian pron Aoorora not OWrora like the english way.

mellifluouscauliflower · 30/12/2009 21:45

Chiara is a lovely name. I also have a soft spot for Fiorella

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 30/12/2009 21:44

Absolutely definitely got to be Francesca. Its so beautiful! I have a dear friend called Francesca and no-one ever shortens her name and that makes it even more special.

Tis a really gorgeous and lovely name.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow!

ilovepeppapig · 30/12/2009 21:43

love francesca and daniela.

HeadFairy · 30/12/2009 21:41

haha, I promise not Poppaea Pippi... I did know the boob thing too

Currently Chiara and Francesca are the faves that I can use then (got sooo many cousins and nieces with the same names it's such a pain!) What does Francesca get shortened to?

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 30/12/2009 21:37

NO NO Poppea. You'd get laughed at quite a lot if you ever set foot in Italy as POPPE are BOOBS .

Ah and good luck tomorrow.

I am Italian and I have never heard Ariagne in my life Boys2mam.

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/12/2009 21:35

What about

Poppaea
Carina

BelleDameSansMerci · 30/12/2009 21:32

Caterina is lovely. I've never heard Graziella before but if I'd heard it before I had DD I'd have used it. And (sadly) not a drop of Italian blood in me

zippy539 · 30/12/2009 21:30

Chiara is lovely and goes really well with Luca. Good luck with tomorrow - the name will pop into your head when you see her.
