What do you think of Lavinia, Katerina or Honor?

Also which spelling of Katerina do you think is the more 'correct' spelling - with a C or a K?

Thanks.

I've just read the synopsis of the Shakesphere play after reading Chunkyrice's post and wow it's a grim story. Maybe Lavinia isn't such a good idea after all...

I was thinking of Lavinia as a Roman name, but more well read people are going to get the Shakesphere connection.

Honor maybe a better choice, glad to hear it travels well, I like Katerina partly because it's a name that seems to be familiar in a lot of European countires.

Honor is a wonderful name. Classic, underused, travels well and altogether a beautiful name. Definitely go for Honor.

tummytickler · 30/12/2009 20:05

Definately Honor.

Chunkyrice · 30/12/2009 19:54

Lavinia is a pretty name, but Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus springs to mind - she was defiled, amputated and later in the play killed out of pity by her father.

Katherina, with an h is great.

Honor is great also. Though may have to repeat spelling to people hearing it for the first time or 'without an u' all the time.

Honor

Cannot stand Lavinia

I thought the 'K' was probably right for Katerina if i'm correct in thinking that it's originally from the Russian name Ekaterina?

Just know the K/C thing is a critical thing to get right. A lot of Irish names look bad with a K but lovely with a C for example.
