I know a little Dorothea called Thea for short.I like it.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 03/01/2010 09:58

I love Dorothea, weirdly, I thought of this yesterday for my new bump, if it's a girl, with a shortening of Thea. Like the other two a lot also, so maybe we are on a par for classical names. Ignore all these Neanderthals who don't get us, we're just ahead of the curve!

Mummyto3plusbump · 03/01/2010 09:45

I wouldnt use any myself but think Dorothea is the best of the 3.

SplitPea · 03/01/2010 08:47

I like Dorothy alot. Not keen on Dorothea though.

Don't like Cressida.

Don't like Violetta (it sounds like an icecream) but Violet is OK.

MojoLost · 03/01/2010 05:56

Absolutley dreadful, all three of them.
Why dont you chose Violet? Much better than violette

ChippingIn · 03/01/2010 04:15

Not a lot to be honest.

Cressida def not - it's a blind (as in curtain blind)...

Violetta sounds like a made up musical instrument...

Dorothea - I would expect her to be 90, not newborn...

Sorry, but you did ask....

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 02/01/2010 22:15

Cressida the best of the bunch but can think of 500 other names I prefer to any of these.

zozzle · 02/01/2010 22:13

A bit prissy - Dorothea ok I guess.

twilightclove · 31/12/2009 00:18

I like Dorothy more than Dorothea. Not sure I like the other names.

BooHooo · 30/12/2009 23:38

I like Cressida.. if DS had been a DD that was the name we had chosen. Don't care if it's poncetastic or a type of Toyota I like it.

MamaLazarou · 29/12/2009 17:05

I don't like any of them, sorry.

kittywise · 29/12/2009 11:29

the op didn't come back then?

mathanxiety · 28/12/2009 22:46

Prefer Theodora or Dora to Dorothea.
Cressida is a Toyota, as LordPanofthePeaks says.
I would go for Violette instead of Violetta. Violet and its variations wouldn't be my first choice, though. Prefer Valentina.

LordPanofthePeaks · 28/12/2009 22:27

Cressida - a car model of Toyota.
Violetta - just too too dahling and operaish
Dorothea - one of my literary heroines ( Middlemarch) but she will become "Dot" "Dotty" "Doe" "Dee" - that sort of thing.

You DO live in ponce-ville don't you.

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2009 22:26

Oh God. Sorry - really terrible. I actually laughed out loud and assumed this was a joke. sorry.

Plutothatpresentdown · 28/12/2009 22:11

Dreadful.

tethersjinglebellend · 28/12/2009 22:10

Cressida was one of the 'Modern Parents' in Viz.

DollyMessiter · 28/12/2009 22:09

No, no and yes.

I prefer Violet to Violetta though.

onadietcokebreak · 28/12/2009 22:08

Dorothea is cool but only if you are a Bon Jovi fan (shes his missus )

Mshalfcut · 28/12/2009 22:08

Bit chavvy if you ask me

lwfhthevampireslayer · 28/12/2009 22:06

I'm in Argentina, lots of little baby Violetas here. Very nice. Shortens to Viole (pronounced vee oh lay)

Mshalfcut · 28/12/2009 22:02

No NO and No
