How popular is it? What would you shorten it to (if anything)? Suggestions for a middle name?

Thanks!

flimflam apologies! I got wrong end of stick! (pregnant and emotional

Thanks for the literary references ladies. DD is named after a film character so if we do go with Milo for DS, these are good to know!

Also Milo Minderbinder from Catch22[who was a tad bonkers]
Boris Johnson's son is called Milo...but don't let that put you off!Think he is teenager.

TaurielTest · 23/12/2009 12:49

Love it. Wouldn't shorten it (is Miles short for Milo?).
I think the Tweenie connection may only be salient to people with children of the age for watching that programme; I've barely registered their existence and certainly didn't know any of their names.
Also, Milo makes me think of the hero of The Phantom Tollbooth - which is an entirely Good Thing.

weeblewoman · 23/12/2009 12:44

My son has a friend called Milo. It doesn't get shortened and it's pronounced My-lo. I like it a lot.

ReindeerInaSkoda · 23/12/2009 12:17

Toosh I imagine FlimFlam had MaggieAnFiaRua's post in mind not yours!

Ah - see you've go in before me FlimFlam

flimflammum · 23/12/2009 12:15

MightyToosh - sorry, didn't mean to offend you, it was directed at other posters.

ReindeerInaSkoda · 23/12/2009 12:14

I like it. I know a teenage one, no smaller ones though.

MadameCastafiore · 23/12/2009 12:12

Love it - is a fab name - I only know one - the son of another mumsnetter and he is a fab little boy.

northlondonchoclover · 23/12/2009 12:11

In many parts of the world, its the name of a chocolate drink - mind you, a good one!

TheMightyToosh · 23/12/2009 11:12

"BTW, how can your choice of name possibly depend on whether it's 'over' or 'in fashion'?"

If that is directed at me as the OP, please re-read the original message as I didn't mention either of these things.

I like it but DH doesn't.

THing with names though is you are never going to please all the people all the time!

Doobydoo · 22/12/2009 18:59

Don't think it at all pretentious...nor is it wet.Odd how pwople feel so strongly about other peoples choices.

OzKate · 22/12/2009 17:52

I used to like Milo but have been put off by a woman I see locally who is always screaming out to her son Milo at the top of her voice and I'm afraid it just sounds so pretentious! xx

Polgara2 · 22/12/2009 16:56

Sorry it's just........ a Tweenie!

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 22/12/2009 16:48

sounds a bit wet to me.

flimflammum · 22/12/2009 15:58

Here Milo is a malted chocolate drink and chocolate breakfast cereal.

BTW, how can your choice of name possibly depend on whether it's 'over' or 'in fashion'? It's a human being, not a chihuahua.

ChickensHaveNoTinsel · 22/12/2009 15:56

I like it.

Doobydoo · 22/12/2009 15:54

My ds2 [3 in April]is called Milo

andlipsticktoo · 21/12/2009 20:56

My friend's son is Milo (born before Tweenies) and it really suits him. I also have a cousin whose ds1 is Milo.

I like it.

Thissideofchannel · 21/12/2009 20:51
