Rose when you already have a Fred?

Really love this as a first name - classic and beautiful IMO but suddenly had the thought this morning that when combined with DS's name - Fred, it isn't great.

Have a think if you haven't already twigged why.

Am I being over cautious? Would people associate it?

Everytime we think we have the girls name cracked it goes wrong again.

Alice will be the middle name btw.

I immediately thought no to the combination but interestingly my niece, who's 20, didn't know why I thought it was a bad idea. She had no idea who Fred and Rosemary West were..

TeaOneSugar · 12/12/2009 21:33

My Mother used to work in a maternity hospital and had to point out to a Mr and Mrs Brady that Ian might not be the best choice of name for their newborn - that was in the 80's.

BigusBumus · 12/12/2009 21:29

oldwoman · 12/12/2009 21:28

Slambang · 12/12/2009 18:31

Rosie would be OK at a pinch though

cece · 12/12/2009 18:28

NO! abosolutely not unless you want people talking about you for years to come! everytime they mention your dc's names.

darcymum · 12/12/2009 18:24

I wouldn't, but as they grow up would their friend and the people they know get the connection? Maybe not.

MaggieNollaig · 12/12/2009 18:13

no. on its own rose doesn't make me think of her, and on it's own fred doesn't make me think of fred west... but together? no way

doubleexpresso · 12/12/2009 17:59

Sorry, no. They are nice names though. Just not together.

LaurieFairyonthetreeeatscake · 11/12/2009 23:14

I have no idea what Sam and Ella mean unless you mean salmonella if that don't think its too bad really...

but definitely wouldn't go for fred and rose.

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 23:12

A definite no. Yes most people would think of Fred and Rose West.

Amapoleon · 11/12/2009 22:42

Crumplet · 11/12/2009 22:42
