Are these awful (for a boy) - thinking my hormones are affecting my brain!

I don't like either.

Have you thought of Corey ? (I don't like it either, but you might ...)

MamaLazarou · 14/12/2009 17:36

American is not a race.

mathanxiety · 14/12/2009 16:44

It's not racism, it's a cultural preference. Both names are very popular in America, and favoured, mostly, it always seemed to me, by people whose general taste I wouldn't care for. Kobe Bryant is a star in the NBA. Cody is a bit out of style now, replaced by Kayden/ Jayden/ Brayden, etc.

Names are a matter of taste. You can like or not like them based on impressions, and you can put them in a category, such as American, and like or not like them based on that. If I call something American it's because I've seen it a lot in America and I see it in a certain light.

LittleWhiteWolf · 14/12/2009 11:39

Coby is very popular in Australia, I hear, and neither is American actually.

I know a Coby at my baby group; when I first heard it I did wonder a little at the name as I had NEVER heard it before, but I love it now. It totally suits the little boy in question and is a perfect name for him.

So I'd go for Coby!

purpleduckUnderTheMistletoe · 14/12/2009 11:32

"American, both of them. So a no from me."

How racist

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2009 18:16

Coby?? Awful.

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 13/12/2009 18:14

I really don't like either, sorry.

slimeysnails · 13/12/2009 16:23

Coby is lovely, as a nickname for Jacob or Jacoby

mo3g · 13/12/2009 15:57

my bf just had a baby boy called coby i didnt like it to start with but its grown on me

mathanxiety · 13/12/2009 15:53

American, both of them. So a no from me.

doubleexpresso · 12/12/2009 18:01

Know Codie who is a girl. Don't like either, sorry.

purpleduckUnderTheMistletoe · 11/12/2009 18:55

You mean Kobe? Thats ok. Cody - i don't like

Buda · 11/12/2009 18:43

Our lab is called Codie after the Cody in The Suite Life. DS is a big fan and he named the dog. Changed it to Codie as pup is female.

Cody is actually an old Irish surname so it also fitted in well for me as I wanted something Irish.

JingleAllTheWay · 11/12/2009 18:40

isn't it the suite life of zac and cody - they are boys aren't they?

differentID · 11/12/2009 18:34

If you had to ask if they were awful, you secretly knew they were didn't you?

At least you recognise that hormones are playing a part, but back to the drawing board I think.

fairimum · 11/12/2009 18:32

good good that is what i thought!! lol

I know a Kobe. I really liked the name and thought it would be pretty cool to be named after the basketballer player Kobe Bryant ....until he got embroiled in a high profile (in the USA) rape trial. Then, not so cool.

Cody is vile.

RnB · 11/12/2009 18:00

Dreadful. Sorry

Vivia · 11/12/2009 17:57

I know a three month old baby girl called Cohdi. Now that spelling's just made up, right?

stepaway · 11/12/2009 17:42

Cody - very American

skihorse · 11/12/2009 17:42

Kobe is also a Hebrew name.

They're both awful though.

Bucharest · 11/12/2009 17:28

Nope.
Even spelled with a C (and I have seen many with K) they are both still that sort of name.

Coby is apparently a very old gaelic name. So says my not-that-sort-of-person-but-still-goes-in-for-this-sort-of-name friend.

cece · 11/12/2009 17:27

I only know girls called Cody.

Sorry but don't like either.

MamaLazarou · 11/12/2009 17:26

I dislike them both, sorry.
